Good Evening Friends,
Here is something new.
Thanks for reading,
AE
The Footballers
Watching the footballers in the rain,
On the quiet Isle of Uist.
Thoughts of Kearny, New Jersey,
Post WW I immigration
And Robert De Bruce,
Flash through my mind, in an instant.
After his stint in the RAF,
Grandfather Andrew came to America
Where for Sparkletts, he designed water bottles.
In those days, after the war,
there were other Scot’s in New Jersey.
And my Nan was from Elgin,
Or was it Aberdeen.
I know she and her side of the family lived
In Inverness for a while.
And it rained
And it rained
Uist won the day,
Beating the team from Skye.

Thanks.
I hope it reads, and I don't mean to use this term incorrectly, sort of a stream of my consciousness, while I watched the football match. I was there, it was raining and mostly stimulated by the moment I naturally ran through a list in my mind of the things which relate me to that place. Curiously I had nearly forgotten all about that moment until I was riding my bike passed a local soccer match. Just like that my memory was triggered.
