In the event that anyone who has befriended me on here (or not) would like to hear a short snippet of a raw recording of my trumpet style, please click the link above ("Paz y Amor").  I have limited space on SoundCloud so it's not the entire original song, it's a raw outtake of the shell.

I recorded this original vibe prior to the horrible tragedy in Tucson and as I programmed and recorded the drum/bass/guitar electronics and I inserted a latin percussive beat, along with the vibe of peace and love led to the title.  It took on new meaning after the events, but the song remains the same.

The recording was done in my office at home (recording studio double) with only my PC, Martin Committee Trumpet and a Blue Snowball Microphone.  All subsequent additions, mixing and editing will be done with a suite on my PC.  I hope to finish up the rough (very) edges soon and be able to lay down the entire track and present it.

As a bonus (or punishment, depending on how you listen), I am adding the link to the completed recording and mixing of a VERY avant garde recording I made, inspired by freedom of expression in music and complete and utter disregard for form.  It's entitled "Et Tu Hunter S.Thompson".  Only I know the reason for the title.  It's a complete departure from my normal music.  Try to listen with an open (if not twisted) mind.

Listen if you please.  I know music is not writing, but it's art nonetheless. Art is in the eye/ear of the beholder, right?

Please listen to each with an open heart and open mind. The trumpet is a hellacious instrument to record without a professional recording studio. It is my love though... Peace and Love
Greg, that sounds great! I enjoy Jazz a lot (as you know) and it's wonderful to hear your playing the trumpet. It's amazing how much can be done on PCs with multi-track recording and editing software. I remember very well when it all used to be done on reel-to-reel tape machines, etc.

Thanks D. I wanted to contrast the raw vs. the manipulated. I'm much more into a melodic, dark tone in the middle register, but I was inspired to go off the grid with the Hunter S. Thompson piece. Technology makes it possible to create, alone, what one could only do with professional help only years ago. I'm glad you got it! Thanks bro.

OES, thank you. I love that quote by Duke (Elegant). I guess MUSIC is in the ear of the beholder. I don't dig Justin Bieber, but hey, if kids are inspired (and/or adults), more power to him! Music is better than the alternative.
And this is, indeed, art. Thank you. I felt it.

Thank you very much Elijah.
I believe that Flamenco Sketches will always live in your heart.
Where ya been, man?
I missed you here.
Art for Arts sake, Glad to see you around brother. Not bad at all.
Good to see you two as well. I called the second vibe "Sketches In Brain" in jest, so yes, Flamenco Sketches and Sketches of Spain influence me an awful lot. Bob it's far from polished (either) and far from my best playing but when getting home from a long day's work I can lay down some vibes (incomplete songs) and then re-visit them at a later time to add on and edit content. I usually leave in small mistakes as Miles would always say "imperfections are what make us human". He often left in live tracks on an album where he missed notes or had them break. In the studio it's easy to get rid of them. Recording live via a mic to PC, it's a lot harder.
Peace and Love to you both.
The Blue Man is back. I loved them Blue. You can tell you put your heart and soul into them!
Well, that was very cool! I wanted the paz and amor to keep going! and Hunter S. Thompson would be proud, I think. Although, and I hope you won't take this negatively, on that one I felt kind of like I was stuck with a bee in an echo chamber for a while. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it's kind of Hunter Thompsonesque!
Scan man, great to see/hear from you!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love ya bro-ham!!!!

Steve, no offense at all. I called it "Flight of the Bumblebee on Crack" at one point in my mind. It does evoke annoyance, but then that is a part of life. It's like a piece of art (on canvas) with a severed head on a platter, etc... You may not like what you see, but there was effort put behind it. :-D That was upper register hell on that song. I did the majority of that riff (unmixed) on one breath. I think three total. It was inspired by Thompson, but that doesn't mean it's something he would have dug in his altered state(s). :-) I hope you both are doing very well. Love to everyone.
Very cool.
Liked the layered sound on/through/around sound ...the swell and subside of Et Tu Hunter S. Thompson
I like "Paz y Amor" and "Across the Border".
Thanks AKA, if you have a good set of speakers and can take the pitch, it's a fun piece of "music". :-)

Thanks Fay. A lot of the stuff on my account are just pieces or ideas but you're welcome to listen to any and all.
You have a beautiful talent, love. Listening brings on a wonderful mix of thought and emotion.
