Foxnews perfected the use of propaganda journalism using fear, spin, and patriotism (or the lack thereof if you happened to question president bush) to attract viewership in the early 2000's and it worked very well! The whole network, collectively vehemently defended the office of the presidency as commander and chief and as the representative figure head of our american ideals for 8 solid years! They would argue that the office, not just president bush, but the office as a whole should be above

reproach and sometimes even above disagreement, to do so would be "un-american" (cant tell you how many times I heard that charge levied) In that context it has been very very sad to see the drastic change in tone and apparently ideals as soon as their guy was out of the office!! They have strayed from the faux outrage over disrespecting the president to having a morning show dedicated to saying the most disrespectful stuff they can think of about the president even running their own ads against him (which was wild and something MSNBC would NEVER do!!) Im not naive and I understand the difference between opinion shows and hard news. I am also cognisant of the fact that there is very little of the latter anywhere on tv!! MSNBC is trying to take the same path Foxnews did in its earlier days albeit much less effectively but in my opinion equally disturbing!!!!

NPR is shown be the most unbiased  in their coverage (which should be very little surprise) Foxnews (surprise surprise) is the most biased! This should be of little shock to anyone but I was mildly stunned to see that even a show on Foxnews like Bret Baier, who at least tries to appear to be a real independent news man, is still so overwhemingly biased!!

Great post. Good work. As a matter of fact, I was thinking of writing a piece about this very subject, and now you've done my homework for me.

I am completely incensed over the fact that the media itself continues to portray itself as left-leaning, when they are no such thing.

Hey Great Thanks A Lot Sage!! I've read quite a bit of your posts so that truly means a lot coming from you!!

I have also been an opponent of the media's attempt to advance this false equivalency narrative regarding today's 'political class'! It's as if fact denying, gross misrepresentations, and terribly divisive rhetoric is just part of politics and both sides engage in it equally and that is just simply not the case. If someone lies, the media should feel obligated and compelled to expose that dishonesty regardless of party affiliation. It is one thing to fear seeming bias politically and being a slave to that fear at the expense of truth and reality is quite another!! If the lines drawn remain static though this problem will be exposed and I do believe that the public is catching on... THANKS AGAIN sagemerlin!!
