I do not support the advertiser who might show up on my blog. I have not chosen that ad, nor do I benefit any way from their infringement on this space. I do not support the big company, which has made the arrangements of those ads. I'm using 'Firefox' browser (with Debian GNU/linux operating system) and have installed 'Adblock Plus' extension with it, so I don't see those ads myself. You can install 'Adblock', too. You don't need to use linux, you can use 'Adblock Plus' with 'Firefox' with other operating systems, too.

Once upon the time

Rate: 5 Flag

The big problem of the world was that they had built such structures, where very small elites could rule over the rest of the people. Ruled by fear telling stories.

The most common story was, if you don't accept the tyranny of the local rulers, then other tyrants would come and they would be worse.

In America they used to tell that 'Russians would come'. Later they were telling as well that 'Chinese would come' and 'Muslim terrorists would come'. In Russia they were telling 'Americans would come'. In China they were telling 'Americans would come'. In Finland there were two stories. The other story was 'if you don't ask Americans to come, Russians would come', the other story, 'if you would ask Americans  to come, then 'Russians would come first'.

They should have dealt with their local tyrants first.

Your clear eyes see well!

The other 'story' told is "under out rule, you have freedom"; under the rule of "the other guys" you would have none. This explains why we must take away your freedom to protect your freedom.
Rated to due the clear eyed wisdom of Larry and Hannu.
Civilization means a division of labor, and that means boss men and worker bees. They don't teach that stuff anymore.
Ohh, read Cavafy's Waiting for the Barbarians...!!!
Larry Lawson: Yes, their freedom is the thing people lost first.
After that all the other things were easy to take. It was also not easy to see for some of them that the virtual jail made with the help of the computers and spying systems was in some respects more effective than the physical walls.
markinjapan: Sometimes I'm thinking that the rulers managed to make people almost blind.

Don Rich:

I think that a division of labor has been one of the biggest mistakes most civilizations have committed.

People, who cannot fix their own car, who cannot fix their own computer, who cannot build their own houses, who cannot grow their food, who cannot do anything else besides voting for their tyrants are very easy to be controlled.

The barbarians in the oval office only tell that "if you don't give me money to start the war against the neighbor 'civilization', I will cut your electricity network tomorrow and stop giving food for you the next day!

Stellaa: "Waiting for the Barbarians...!!!"

While people are waiting for barbarians to come they are blind against seeing the barbarians sitting in the oval office.

But the high barbarians sitting in the oval office cannot change the oil of their cars and war machines themselves. Only their servants can.

You could tell them "that if you don't stop your wars, we don't change the oil of your machines any more."

I learn to change the oil when I was young. I as well learned how to cultivate the land by using horse powered machineries. During the time I was teaching philosophy at the university I did cleaning work as well cleaning other offices. So I can clean my own house. From my elder brother I learned how to build a house. From the Nepali man I learned how to make a solar cooker the best way. From my mother I learned how to cook food. I learned myself how to fix computers. I learned myself how to fix cars and motorbikes.

I didn't go to change oil of the machines owned by the oval office people. But some others did.
