Is There A Heart In the House Tonight?

Rate: 5 Flag

Five Heartbeats

I offer you one of my favorite scenes from an old movie from 1991. In this scene,  the central characters had been set up to fail and it looked like they were about to go down for the count.

Then... from the ashes, they come back with a vengeance.   Uplifting, funny, and reminiscent of the kind of friendship that will persevere through any adversity.   Some of you might even recognize one of your favorite characters from Dollhouse as well.

The Five Heartbeats
Loosely based on the real life story of The Temptations, this is the scene that I invariably go back and REPLAY again and again.
I hope that you can enjoy it with me.

Love the whole movie, thank you for this!!
I love Robert Townsend, I loved the Temptations, and I loved this film. The women in the audience are a hoot (and take me back to my own adolesence). Re: Harry Lennix, I didn't recognize him from this movie when I started watching Dollhouse & I certainly didn't know that he could sing. Seeing celebrities in their "first breaks" appearances is always so fun. Thank you!
Great post. I loved the movie and love Robert Townsend.

My people! Thanks for this trip down "peeking through the door at the high school kids" trip down memory lane.
Definitely something special, Harp. Thank you.
Hayell Yeah! Now that ROCKS!
Didn't see the movie - now it's on Netflix - got to see the lead up to this scene! (that girl having an orgasm - or a seizure - in the front row is so hilarious!).
sweet. I was always a Smokey girl myself, but still....
