The Sexuality of Clones

Rate: 9 Flag

clone1

I should probably give you some background information first.  In the year 32 BBY, (Before the Battle of Yavin) the reclusive cloners on Kamino began the creation of a secret clone army, at the behest of an order placed by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas.  (Later that same year, I understand that Master Sifo-Dyas was murdered by the traitor, Count Dooku.) Meanwhile, a Mandolorian bounty hunter named Jango Fett was selected to provide the DNA specimen for the cloning. He also took an active role in the training of the original clone troopers, but I get ahead of myself.

Because of the use of accelerated growth hormones, the clone army was mature and ready in just ten years (22 BBY), when Palpatine, now the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, was given emergency powers by the Senate.  He used those powers to authorize the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic to deal with the Separatist crisis. The Grand Army was first introduced at the Battle of Genosis... that would forever be recognized as the beginning of the Clone Wars.

Battle of Genosis

I was one of the clone stormtroopers at the Battle of Genosis.  We arrived in Genosis with several LAAT gunships under the command of  Master Yoda. Our strike force landed just in time to retrieve the remnants of a Jedi rescue mission of 200 Jedi led by Master Mace Windu.  One hundred seventy Jedi Knights were killed that day.  Some of them were my friends.

In the early days of the Clone Wars, both the Republic and Separatists thought of us as no better than the droids that we fought against. They saw us as faceless soldiers who would willingly lay down our lives for The Republic.  As a result they treated us like mindless pawns with no soul or lives of our own.

This all began to change as the casualties mounted and the long, costly war took it's toll.  The Jedi who led our strike teams began to form strong attachments to the clones they took into battle.  For the first time someone treated us like individuals.  We, in turn, began to see ourselves as far more than products of the Kamino cloning process.  As a result some legendary friendships evolved during the war, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Clone Commander Cody, Aayla Secura and Commander Bly, and the greatest friendship may have been between Commander Gree and Master Yoda himself.

There were also discreet instances of romantic relationships, which were kept under wraps at first.   People had a hard time looking at their fighting machines in a sexual context.

Under the influence of our Jedi generals, we were first allowed to adopt names to go along with our serial numbers.  My original designation was FN-423 but my chosen name became Coleman Blaine.   I was very honored to obtain permission to adopt the name of the Clan Blaine. It's like being a member of their family.

We also cultivated different hair styles and facial hair and facial tattoos, to begin establishing our individuality to a far greater degree.  With so many tens of thousands of clones around, we soon became gifted students of observation, able to spot the smallest descrepancies that would differentiate one trooper from another.  After a while it was easy.

Furthermore, in time we were allowed to customize our armor slightly.  I never asked permission to add "Coleman" on my epaulets.

Clones

After the death of Master Sifo-Dyas, someone named Lord Tyranus apparently took over in his place.  It was Tyranus who selected Jango Fett in the first place.  He was also involved in directing the Kaminoans to tamper with Fett’s DNA, selecting and modifying certain genes to enhance behavioral qualities like loyalty, aggression, independence and discipline. Tyranus also requested that all sexual inclinations be removed as well, but in studying early prototypes, the Kaminoans discovered that without any sexual outlets, the clone troopers became murderous and uncontrollable psychopaths.  The decision was made to allow us to develop our sexuality along more natural lines.

In training the original Fett Clone Troopers, Jango Fett made a point of instilling aspects of the Mandolorian culture in our development.   (This made it easy for subsequent Mandolorian warriors who later joined our Stormtrooper Corps even though they were not clones.)

Homosexuality and same-sex marriages are widely accepted by the Mandalorian culture. This meant that we truly could choose our sexual preference without fear of reproach in any way.   An insignia was quickly proposed and adopted as yet a further way of customizing our armor and civilian attire, so that we could display our sexual orientation.  (The heterosexual insignia would resemble the classic yin and yang symbol that would appear on Earth in years to come.  Here the yin and yang elements would be represented in different colors or different materials. The homosexual symbol was identical, but the yin and yang elements were the same but inverted.)

yin yang

It was also completely left to us to determine what patch we would wear.  We could change patches as often as we wanted if we chose to, but it did not surprise anyone that the homosexual troopers outnumbered the heterosexual troopers ten to one!!  The sheer availability of sexual partners seemed to dictate the results.

I can hear Master Yoda’s voice, “Learn to enjoy seafood you would, if in the ocean you lived.”   (laughter)

If you were a hetero-trooper like me you really had to find partners while on leave... or you had to be very lucky.  In time, human women became stormtroopers as well, but they were extremely rare. Then there were the Blue skinned Chiss women who looked completely humanoid and had a reputation for being wonderful sexual partners. There weren't very many of them however, and those within the Galactic Empire were highly sought after in the hospitality parlors.

I should probably mention that there are some non-human species that are supposedly sexually compatible, but you run the risk of becoming one of The Shamed Ones.   I’d rather not talk about that.

Some of my brothers have developed unique relationships involving more than just a couple as well.   I can think of different configurations where three or four homo-troopers have formed a family or, in one case that I know of, there are three hetero-troopers who all live with the same woman.  We have even had a couple of recent instances of lesbian stormtroopers who want nothing to do with men at all and that just pissed everybody off.  (laughing once again)  We have examples of just about any combination that you can imagine.

You would think that given the forced group mentality of our upbringing, that we would seek to get away from such tendencies in our sexual lives. But it might surprise you to learn that there is quite a bit of group sex taking place among our ranks.   Many have observed that it's a real turn-on to see versions of yourself in such intimate settings regardless of who your partner is. It's like looking in the mirror while you do it... only better.

I happen to be in love with a Jedi Padawan from Coruscant.  We will be bonded in marriage this coming Helona.  Happily, I will be released from my obligations to the corps during Nelona (about a month earlier.)  It will probably be on, or during, Shelova Week.  She is of human ancestry, but there is something else mixed in.  We’re not entirely sure what and we don’t care.   We will raise our children to follow the teachings of The Force... and by the way, these days Jedi Mind Tricks has a whole different meaning.   Use your imagination.  (grin)

We are thinking about starting a Jedi Temple on Mandoloria.

Well that explains a lot.
If a clone from the same lineage has sex with another clone of the same lineage, but of a different gender, does that mean the cloned effed himself and does that make him gay?
A Star Wars question that has been nagging me for years, and to which you must know the answer. At the end of one of the movies there is a trailer with an Ewoks dance scene, complete with a fairly funky sound track. (I am not fluent in Ewokian, but to the best of my recollection it went "Wok-wok. Wok-wok. O-E-O--Wok-wok!")

Do you recall which movie that was in--or did I dream the whole thing?
Awesome. Absolutely awesome. “Learn to enjoy seafood you would, if in the ocean you lived.” Awesome. (It's a shame that much of this wisdom did not appear in the movie. I knew I should have read the books!) Wow, you really know your Star Wars. May the Force be with you this Independence Day.
Harp, it's amazing!! you can write about any subject, and make the reader feel right at home!! Great Post.
Great story. Very interesting!!
I'm with scanner! You have practically written a whole new aspect of the Star Wars Sagas. I never had time to read the books...I was wasting my time with Dune.
As much fun as I had writing the Gun Hill Road post and the White Magic Woman post... I had far more fun developing this. The difference of course is that those were based upon real, factual occurences and this, of course, is fantasy. Once again... this is not my day job and I am not writing business plans or strategic plans for my customers... here I do what I enjoy. This is why increasingly I have come to realize that except for a beloved group of readers and the occasional person who wanders into my blog... this is really not the place for me. I am not flouncing or making anything other than an observation... but the Open Salon in general (and of course the Editors) don't think much of my fiction. The bad thing is that I am growing accustomed to being largely ignored here, and I'm not sure what to make of that. Tis a puzzlement.
