In January 2009, I wrote the following post in a blog entitled, "Keep Those Miracles Coming, Leon Will Blog On." 

"For those of you who may have been aware of my good friend's surgery, Leon has apparently sailed through like a champ.  The tumor was thankfully not as severe as the doctor feared even though it was positioned over the area of the brain that governs speech. He will need rest and continued care, but he should be all right.  Leon Wynter should return with time to OS to blog once more!   (For prior posts go to Leon Wynter on OS, recent Editor's Pick)."

He actually did return to post a few more contributions.  His Blog is still there for those of you who might wish to visit.   The story of his first encounter with the brain tumor that took him away was an editor's Pick that you might find interesting reading.  It is more than a little ominous given the news.

Leon passed away today in hospice care at 3:00 PM.  He was ultimately the victim of brain cancer.  We thought he was going to fully recover, but he never did.  This is for those of you who knew him.  He was my friend.
