On Supreme Court Rulings… Obamacare, Arizona Immigration, Etc…

Judging by the appalling response by the Obama administration to the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on Arizona’s immigration law and his past statements about the political nature of the Supreme Court it’s fairly clear that this president feels he’s above the law.

Here’s what Obama recently said about the impending Obamacare ruling:

Barack Obama suggested that any decision by the US Supreme Court to overturn his landmark healthcare law would send the country “backwards” and that Americans did not want to “re-fight” the battle over healthcare.

And remember what Obama said back in April?

Ultimately, I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress.

And I’d just remind conservative commentators that, for years, what we have heard is, the biggest problem on the bench was judicial activism, or a lack of judicial restraint, that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law.

And here we have the central tactic of Liberals: bully, undermine, personally attack critics, and attempt to hint at some sort of revolution.

The threat is quite clear… the Supreme Court is unelected overturning of a law passed by elected officials is morally wrong.

This shows a clear lack of respect for the rule of law on behalf of the president in violation of his oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.”

Sure, Obamacare was to have been the president’s signature piece of legislation and what he campaigned on for his re-election.  But if the Supreme Court overturns all – or part – of the law what will Obama have?  Nothing but failure, wasted time, and hollow promises to make for his second term.

Obamacare should be overturned… the notion that the Federal Government can require – at the point of financial penalty – to buy something (health insurance) is absurd and a broad expansion of Federal powers.  People should carry health insurance but to legally require it?
