Unfortunately, no ObamaNation this weekend – the Android tablet doesn’t do Powerpoint – but a serious post on the Colorado shootings is in order anyway.

Those of us who understand that humans are unpredictable and that laws cannot ensure total compliance realize that the best defense again a wacko with a gun is a bunch of sane people with them and that banning guns somewhere just ensures everybody who follows the law is unarmed and a nice, juicy target.

James Holmes – the guy who went off the deep end – was wearing body armor and chucking tear gas canisters everyplace in a dark room so, naturally, Liberals somehow brush aside the possibility that had someone in the audience been legally armed nothing positive would have come out of it and thus the entire concept of concealed carry is bogus.

Maybe if Holmes knew 50% of the audience might be packing heat he would have picked an easier target.

Ya think?

Armed shooters have stopped people hell bent on murder before they could do more harm.  Why in April of this year – in the same city in Colorado – a crazed man crashed his car in a church parking lot, shot a woman 5 times who was rushing to help him, and stormed into the church ready to kill everybody.  He was shot by an off duty cop who was authorized to conceal carry (Aurora, CO prohibits concealed carry).

Had that off duty officer not been at the church there would have been a slaughter.

Liberals either don’t understand basic concepts like this or don’t want to.

They call for bans of “assault rifles” while not understanding what one is (hint: it’s a made-up term) and most likely have never fired one or even own a gun.

An assault rifle – according to the silly firearms laws in Kalifornia – has a removable magazine and an “evil” feature like a pistol grip (because that makes it so much more deadly – the grip).  If you buy an “assault rifle” and remove the pistol grip it’s legal to own with the removable magazine.

How stupid is that?

But Liberals cry: “Ban the Assault Rifle!” as if it is somehow more deadly or would save lives.

33 people were slaughtered at Virginia Tech (which also forbade concealed carry) and guess what… the shooter was using… a pistol (two, actually) not an “assault rifle.”

And that’s what’s so maddening about discussing firearms with Liberals… they just don’t seem to have (or want) a clue about the subject even though they are calling for either outright bans or degrees of prohibition.

Unfortunately, you will always get some irresponsible people in any society who will abuse the Rights they – and everybody else – has and end up doing harm to people.

Are the 99.99% of us to lose our Rights because of some crazy wacko who, if he couldn’t get his hands on a gun would make a bomb (Timothy McVeigh) or drive his car down a crowded downtown street?

Liberals don’t want to get into these kinds of issues because their schemes simply don’t hold up.

I am a proud believer in the 2nd Amendment and would like to see more responsible people enjoy shooting so that we will have a new generation which fully embraces our Bill of Rights.

That’s the only defense against Liberalism… people exercising their Rights.
