OK, so I got a cool new camera, one that lasts more than seven pictures. It also has "features", another new concept for me. The descriptions of how these features work, however, were hidden in the user's manual instead of innately transferring them to mind through osmosis. Therefore, I didn't use the nighttime settings on the camera as I made my way down to Victory Park and the famed W Hotel by downtown Dallas. On the way there I passed some interesting signs and sights:

Gas Well from the Barnett Shale
See? Not everything is bigger in Texas
Not just strippers here, but God pleasers as well
The W Hotel with the Ghost Bar glowing up top
Here it is as it faces the highway
The bowels of the W
Victory Park! Dallas' version of Times Square -
only without the people, energy or glamour.
American Airlines Center,
the anchor of Victory Park
Channel 8 Newsroom is based there as well
The green bank building as viewed from VP.
It's a Dallas landmark
I took some others pics that came out way too dark, one of an Aston Martin outside the W. I'll make another trip and test the night settings. Last afternoon and this morning I took a few more around where the new toll road is being built:

Sign under the toll road said "no outlet" so I
had to see where it went:
The Grand Praire police shooting range
The range was right next to a gully
that leads back to the new toll road.
Future on ramp. The structure will house
the cameras that snap your license plate
I walked up the ramp
To the right is a brand new walkway
To the left were more support beams,
standing as Roman pillars
Spanking new gazebo on the walkway
Inside the roof

Murky waters under the bridge
Found this horse farm right by the new
construction. You see these contrasts
Here's another on ramp yet to be connected
Same spot, testing the zoom
I found where trains go to sleep nearby
Right on the middle of a neighborhoood
I was cutting back through I found this
delightful Vietnamese temple.
It was very serene here on this Sunday morn
Biker chick ended my morning
I pulled up beside her at the light where she exited. She got really pissed when I rolled down my window and I asked: "Hey, are you a virgin?"
You can see better versions of these pics at my new Flickr account.

Pawed!
Yeah, I'm all in favor of that getting instructions by osmosis. Haven't got all the way thru my camera manual yet, or my cell phone manual (I only know how to make calls ... and sometimes can't manage that).
It's tough.
GRIN
I want your pics though to be a bit bigger, the full 485 pixels wide the compose column will allow. You can use your new flickr account "all sizes" embed code to make that work. If you're interested I'll send you an OSmail with specific details on that.
Well done Harry, I enjoyed this very much.
Also loved your observation about the sad lack of mind-osmosis technology. (What really gets me is the instructions that exist if you already know enough to get to them...) Also your crack about that sad looking square...
