It's hard to keep a positive outlook in a negatively charged environment. That's because opposites attract, so I keep getting stuck to pessimists.

I dreamed I met my granddaughter.

Rate: 5 Flag

She's due to arrive in 2 weeks.  I know they rarely arrive on time, but even if she's a week or two late, it seems like too soon.  Too soon for her mom to be a mom...19 is still such a babe.  Too soon for me to be a gramma...41 is such a youngster.  So much too soon for us to have another hungry mouth in the house.  Too soon, and yet...

I dreamed about her.  In my dream she had long, curly brown hair.  She was looking in the other direction, but I could see her curls in the sunlight.  She smelled like sheets dried on the line.

She may have board straight hair and smell like spit-up.  She may be bald and smell like Play-Doh.  I know it won't matter.  Our family has changed, and will soon change again.  My hope is that we'll work together and help each other for a while, and we'll all love each other enough so that even a brunette in a family of redheads will always know she's in the right place.

She'll smell like love, like perfection, like the reason you try so hard.
No matter what she smells like or looks like, she will win your heart the minute you seen her. You all will make it through it all together and with lots of love. She will wrap you around her little fingers the first time you touch her. She will bless your life like you have never dreamed possible.
I was a gramma at 41 too, and it has been a blessing in my life to have both of my grandsons. Very enjoyable post..
This is so sweet, and you sound very smart. I had my first daughter at age 17. My grandmother was like you, loved my daughter so much. It means more than I ever knew it could. Good luck to you and your family.
Aww, you three all made me misty. I have been slow to show any excitement, but who can resist?
"She smelled like sheets dried on the line."

I so love that line! Congrates, Gramma! Keep us posted when the big day comes. Nothing like a new baby in the house. Good for you!

PS- We will demand pictures, ya know!
I'm sure she will be everything you ever wanted! I've been waiting to be a grandma forever, so enjoy, no matter what your age. Lucky you!
