It's hard to keep a positive outlook in a negatively charged environment. That's because opposites attract, so I keep getting stuck to pessimists.

Be a dear and don't flog me for making you cry, nor for what I'm about to say.   I do commend her bravery, really.   But for goodness sake, if you live in a trailer and have ANY warning (and this area did)...please get you and your loved ones OUT if a bad storm is heading your way.  I've seen double-wides ripped from their foundations and wrapped around trees, and worseThey are not safe.  I don't mean to speak ill of the dead, but hope others can learn from this tragedy.    Poor girl, poor boys.

My God! Every time I see where someone is going to "ride out" a hurricane, especially in these death traps mobile homes, I wonder how dumb you got to be to put your kids in danger.
You are assuming that she had transportation to leave and someone to take her. I don't know who this crying woman is but I would not judge until I knew more of the facts. Many women living in trailers in rural areas are isolated and without transportation. Yazoo City is a very poor area.
I'm actually from Mississippi, I am very familiar with the area, and I don't judge when I say what I say. As for whether she had transportation, who knows? I can tell you, though, in a rural area in Mississippi, somebody at the house generally has a car, or else you don't live there--there's just no other way to get around. My plea is not a judgement against this poor girl since I really don't know her circumstances. It's more that I'm begging folks who do live in mobile homes not to forget the cracker boxes that they really are.
::ugh::

When I heard this story on the news, I cringed for the pain of this family.
Mom, Dad, and sister and crew are all in Southaven. Mom says yesterday morning at 4 or so, the sirens started going off. In her 10 years of being a dialysis nurse, this is the first time they've ever actually taken the patients off the machines and removed them to their "safe" room. And seems like she said they did it twice. And have you seen the flooding in Nashville? The MidSouth is on Mother Nature's radar this year.
