The repubs are dropping like flies...Ana Marie Cox made a great comment on twitter...she said how relieved she was not to see the dutiful wife standing by his side and I agree. But did you see the young women standing behind him at the news conference? That was bizarre! The one to his left couldn't keep from smiling. I think his staff is so pissed they were trying to make it as bad as possible for him and there was nothing he could do to stop them.

Fox news will go back into that worn out bag of tricks ("how can we explain and justify this?? let's pull out the Clinton Affair!"). All Republicans are entitled to have a free pass on one affair (same sex; two passes if it's the opposite sex) because Clinton had one (well, actually more than one). It's an amazing and particularly Republican kind of logic.

The distinctions drawn between Clinton and Other become increasingly narrow, like the uniqueness of humans versus animals.

It used to be, "Only humans use tools." Then Jane Goodall filmed some chimpanzees using a crude screwdriver to assmple some shelves from IKEA, and it became "Only humans use those shelves for books."

"Clinton committed adultery" quickly became, "It's not the adultery; it's that he LIED about it." When a blanket condemnation of lying made it impossible to support Bush-Cheney, someone came up with, "Clinton lied UNDER OATH."

Eventually, there will be a need for something even more specific. "Clinton lied under oath and didn't cross his fingers." "Clinton lied under oath after handling the Lincoln Bible." "Clinton lied under oath about a sex act so perverse, Republicans can't even get it without flying to Argentina."

Etc.

Because outsourcing is the way. It brought us our wonderful economic prosperity, didn't it?
