I have exactly 2 weeks until race day. Yes, that is right two weeks. This has been a upward and downward spiral of training. Some weeks and then months of dedication followed by weeks and more weeks of barely running due to extreme weather conditons or lack of energy. I have run the farthest of 12 miles in a run walk recovery method that consists of 3 minutes of running followed by 1 minute of walking.
Why? You asked after being able to run a long distance in a reasonable time.
Well. for several reasons. One is the massive crowd that will attending at the Walt Disney world. I am in the second to the last coral Coral are from A- H. I am listed in G according to my racebib number from my racing waiver that I signed will turn it to receive my racing bib and other goodies at the two day expo. From what I saw at map of the starting line and the enormous amout of people attending. I could very well be a half to almost a mile away from the starting line. So I will be running unofficially, compliments of my tracker until my feet pass the starting line.
I am not going to worry, fret over how fast I run, (as long as it is under s 16 minute mile according to Disney). I figure with this walk/run method I will be able to finish strong at the end and live to tell about it.
Today it was a bitter cold morning here and I freaked out as it was in the low 30's when I thought about running this morning. I just stepped out the door after some oatmeal and ran to the corner, bundled up orcourse with sweat pants, a tee shirt, two longs sleeve shirts and a hoodie. Wirh insolation running clothes I ran about blocks and said "f-that! It aint happening!" I wanted to but it was just to friggin cold out and I did not want to risk getting sick.
Yeah, I know, I am not dedicated enough. Then again I am not stupid to be out in the cold either!
When I went back into my cozy apartment I googled the 14 day weather forecast for the Walt Disney area. Race day will be in the low to mid 50's to a high of 75.
Thank God!
The race itself starts at 5;15 am. the coral that I am listed will officially start at around 6:20 am! There will be entertaiment there to pump everyone up. I have met some girls that I will enventually hook up there with so there will be plenty of photo opts!
My only regret so far in this journy is to have had a better training ritual. With my current job consisting me to walk 10-15 miles a day, not including my to and from work. It has been a rough experience. Weekend running however has never been a problem. A have had a few good motivaters from getting a real pair of running shoes, Brooks, the way. My best item yet and my Nike Plus Sports watch that has helped me keep track of my miles while running where ever I felt like it. It gives you positive messages after a new long run, best time, etc.
The next two weeks will consist of runs to keep me limber and motivated. I have selected a skort ( which is a pair of running shirt stitched inside a skirt) a colorful tank top and a cute rhinestone tiera compliments from a running friend from Facebook. I am visually packing things I need in my head and laying it all out on my corner in my apartment. Snacks, energy gels, camera, batteries, racing stuff, etc. I am getting excited and looking forward to my long extended weekend away from work and reality.
My Princess in training is about to come to an end. If you see a glistening smile on my face you know I have a sweaty little secret. I have ran 13.1 miles and liked it!

GO SUZZZZZZZZZ
HUGGGGGGGGG
Decades ago, I opted to run the half marathon Hospital Hill In Kansas City. I had been training long and hard, and had my own very new pair of Adidas SL 72s....the ultimate in running shoes. I got there early, and was even interviewed by a news reporter...who opted NOT to use the words of a total goob!
I ran..I finished....I saw my name in print in the paper a day later......AND.....
I had done something that was all my own...and made it.
Just as you are about to do!!! Congrats!!!!
