Aaargh! Global warming strikes in a strange way!

Rate: 7 Flag

High in the Rockies, we have had ... rain.

Saturday it snowed all day, several feet worth, and then, when darkness fell, the rain started. Several feet of snow were reduced to 18 inches of the heaviest slush I have ever seen. Sunday it snowed all day, and then when darkness fell ... you get the idea.

Our Christmas will still be white, because the layers of snow that are insulated under layers of frozen slush aren't going anywhere. Here, courtesy of the Colorado Department of Transportation road-condition cam, is what the highway through our town looks like all winter. (In the top corner of the picture is the Atlantic Cable headframe).

But here is the view toward downtown!

WHAT ARE THEY???

Ok thanks, now I'm buggin'!
Black bugs?? I guess....
It's pouring here too. All the snow is gone. I'd say those are flies and spiders.....?
i would be dead too
Spiders and flies? At least they look dead...
We're still hoping for a white Christmas here in the flatlands...but we'll just have to wait and see!
I assume they're dead bugs caught in a spider web that got flopped down over the camera lens, maybe caught in a blanket of snow that slipped off, but it's not what I expect to see on the tiny-town road cam!

I hope the white comes to all of you before Christmas, but the 45 degree weather stays.
