Meandering Through Life with a Precise Goal...the Journey Matters More Than the Destination
An odd young woman from South Carolina who joined the military after 9/11. I am an active duty service member stationed in Miami. Completed a double major in History and Political Science from Rutgers University. Trying to decide whether or not to pursue a Masters in Public Adminstration, Strategic Intelligence, or Bioscience; or even continue another undergrad program in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. BACK from a year deployed to Afghanistan. Avid Progressive Independent (LIBERAL) and Obama supporter "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -Benjamin Franklin (On the PATRIOT Act centuries before those idiots in Congress co-signed on it)

You know that square in Johari's window that is about how there are things you don't know that you don't know?

Well, someone just opened my eyes to something I didn't know I didn't know. Apparently I missed some basic areas of social interaction.

I Attempted to Attend Rush Holt's (D-NJ) Townhall

So I just came back from Rep. Rush Holt's (D-NJ) townhall. I drove an hour and a half to get there, got there an hour earlier, and all to no avail.  They only let 250 people in so I spent 3.5 hrs outside talking to people who oppose reform.

Memorial Day: Remembering My LT

I haven't posted in a long time.

This is my fifth day back from Afghanistan.

This post is for my LT.  Her memorial service was in St. Louis today and I wish I had been able to attend.

Lt Roslyn Schulte was a memorable person.  She was very sweet and… Read full post »

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips/

Okay seriously...why did I bother?

(Warning: My comments in bold express exasperation)

This was the summary provided in my NY Times daily email:

We need leaders to help us through our crises, not provide us with crude evaluations of our character.

My Dinner Last Night With Visiting US Reps (CODEL Pelosi)

So, last night I had dinner with a Congressional Delegation here to visit President Karzai.

The dinner opened with Speaker Pelosi telling how the military will be affected/supported by the House and some of the facets of HR1.  I have a video of the end piece that I'm still trying… Read full post »

So, I got tagged with this by two different people on Facebook.  It's been over a week since the tagging and my "Twin" asked me if I had seen the tag.  Sensing that he was going to guilt me I told him I would do it ASAP.

I thought I'd… Read full post »

From the main site of our lovely community (truth is I went because OS was down) I read a blog on the Obameter Diary.  After popping over to Brainwrap's diary on Daily KOS ( I decided to vist the real deal.

Okay, a quick caveat.  I LOVE THIS POST!  It summarizes all the arguments I make to people who I'm trying to "help understand" how the Republican party is not for them.  It also makes all the points I make when talking with people who cause me to ask them, "DoRead full post »

Yesterday in Kabul

Yesterday in Kabul there was a mass coordinated attack on several government facilities.

Though there were some losses the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) did EXTREMELY well.   They controlled the situation and responded well.

Even though yesterday was a horrible da… Read full post »

I was standing on the stairs outside my office, watching people walk by, when I suddenly felt the urge to write.  I haven't felt the urge or desire to write a story, play, or poem in years.  I think the lack of creative output led to my massive amount of video blogs on… Read full post »

[At first I wasn't going to post's so silly...but someone jabbed me about not having posted in awhile]

I’m going to write very honestly about how I feel at this exact moment.

From what I gather the entire point of these blogs is to share my feelings, opinions, and emotions… Read full post »

Since we have been posting all these pictures from High School and laughing or lamenting the past I suggest we should also celebrate the FABULOUS people we are now (or have always been, your call)

So I'll begin by posting a photo from a couple of months ago oh mytank

I am inspired by the senior year photo album  to do random posts that travel down memory lane.

In the Summer of 2004 I went on vacation with 3 other people to Spain and then to Rome for a week with my best friend Gabriel.

Since I'm in Afghanistan I can't get to my Senior Year picture...what a pity.

Instead here are some pictures from that year (2000-2001) in which I was a High School Senior.

Blago goes to Jail

Okay, I gave Blag some credit from pulling Illinois' business from Bank of America.  It was the last thing I saw before going to sleep last night.  Upon further research today I see Mayor Daly of Chicago threatened to do so first.

So I'm researching the two...Mayor Daly 80%… Read full post »

Okay, I read alot of Andy Sullivan and other blogs (listed on the left) but now Megan McArdle makes the list.  She wrote EVERYTHING I have been thinking about all the "Chicken Little" type reactions to Obama and his appointees.

Kanye West has had an hard year...and it's reflected in his latest album.

Kabul, 1 December 2008, 1500

So it's fairly common to hear people around me whining about how President Elect Obama is going to make America socialist and communist by giving out handouts and such.

I decided to question some folks and figure out why they believe that and if they… Read full post »
