Social Norms or How I Still Can't Talk to Normal People
You know that square in Johari's window that is about how there are things you don't know that you don't know?
Well, someone just opened my eyes to something I didn't know I didn't know. Apparently I missed some basic areas of social interaction.
I mean… Read full post »
Memorial Day: Remembering My LT
I haven't posted in a long time.
This is my fifth day back from Afghanistan.
This post is for my LT. Her memorial service was in St. Louis today and I wish I had been able to attend.
Lt Roslyn Schulte was a memorable person. She was very sweet and… Read full post »

PHENOMENAL WOMAN
Written by Maya Angelou
Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips/… Read full post »

Why Did I Bother to Read Maureen Dowd's Article Today?
Okay seriously...why did I bother?
(Warning: My comments in bold express exasperation)
This was the summary provided in my NY Times daily email:
Dark Dark Dark
By
MAUREEN DOWD
We need leaders to help us through our crises, not provide us with
crude evaluations of our character.
So, last night I had dinner with a Congressional Delegation here to visit President Karzai.
The dinner opened with Speaker Pelosi telling how the military will be affected/supported by the House and some of the facets of HR1. I have a video of the end piece that I'm still trying… Read full post »
My 25 Things...A Note Making Its Way Around Facebook
So, I got tagged with this by two different people on Facebook. It's been over a week since the tagging and my "Twin" asked me if I had seen the tag. Sensing that he was going to guilt me I told him I would do it ASAP.
I thought I'd… Read full post »
The Obameter: From Salon to Daily KOS to PolitiFact
From the main site of our lovely community (truth is I went because OS was down) I read a blog on the Obameter Diary. After popping over to Brainwrap's diary on Daily KOS (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2009/2/17/20467/1935/680/698009) I decided to vist the real deal.

Bob Cesca's post on HuffPo on Sean Hannity's Ridiculous War
Okay, a quick caveat. I LOVE THIS POST! It summarizes all the arguments I make to people who I'm trying to "help understand" how the Republican party is not for them. It also makes all the points I make when talking with people who cause me to ask them, "Do… Read full post »
Yesterday in Kabul there was a mass coordinated attack on several government facilities.
Though there were some losses the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) did EXTREMELY well. They controlled the situation and responded well.
Even though yesterday was a horrible da… Read full post »
I Used To Be Hollow (Unfinished Spoken Poem)
I was standing on the stairs outside my office, watching people walk by, when I suddenly felt the urge to write. I haven't felt the urge or desire to write a story, play, or poem in years. I think the lack of creative output led to my massive amount of video blogs on… Read full post »
How I Spent 2008 Opening Myself Up To People and Had A Crush
[At first I wasn't going to post this...it's so silly...but someone jabbed me about not having posted in awhile]
I’m going to write very honestly about how I feel at this exact moment.
From what I gather the entire point of these blogs is to share my feelings, opinions, and emotions… Read full post »
Let's Celebrate The Present...IN PICTURES!
Since we have been posting all these pictures from High School and laughing or lamenting the past I suggest we should also celebrate the FABULOUS people we are now (or have always been, your call)
So I'll begin by posting a photo from a couple of months ago

Trevi Fountain/Pantheon: Photo Trip Down Memory Lane
I am inspired by the senior year photo album to do random posts that travel down memory lane.
In the Summer of 2004 I went on vacation with 3 other people to Spain and then to Rome for a week with my best friend Gabriel.
One of my fondest… Read full post »
I Can't Get My Senior Year Pic So Some Pics From That Year
Since I'm in Afghanistan I can't get to my Senior Year picture...what a pity.
Instead here are some pictures from that year (2000-2001) in which I was a High School Senior.

Who thought those one piece jean outfits were a good idea anyway?

The Bandwagon Governor (Illinois) Gets His Just Deserts

Okay, I gave Blag some credit from pulling Illinois' business from Bank of America. It was the last thing I saw before going to sleep last night. Upon further research today I see Mayor Daly of Chicago threatened to do so first.
So I'm researching the two...Mayor Daly 80%… Read full post »
Do Progressives Think We Became Sweden on Nov 5th?
Okay, I read alot of Andy Sullivan and other blogs (listed on the left) but now Megan McArdle makes the list. She wrote EVERYTHING I have been thinking about all the "Chicken Little" type reactions to Obama and his appointees.
I love it! The best line is modifed as the&nb… Read full post »

808s and Heartbreak: My view of Kanye West's new album
Kanye West has had an hard year...and it's reflected in his latest album.
Now Ye, as I affectionately think of him, has quite the reputation as an overblown drama queen. He makes inane statements, argues on his blog, and keeps talking long after most people think he should have stopped.… Read full post »
Excuse me, President Obama will be a what? A Socialist...?
Kabul, 1 December 2008, 1500
So it's fairly common to hear people around me whining about how President Elect Obama is going to make America socialist and communist by giving out handouts and such.
I decided to question some folks and figure out why they believe that and if they… Read full post »
