The Bandwagon Governor (Illinois) Gets His Just Deserts

Rate: 1 Flag
Blago goes to Jail

Okay, I gave Blag some credit from pulling Illinois' business from Bank of America.  It was the last thing I saw before going to sleep last night.  Upon further research today I see Mayor Daly of Chicago threatened to do so first.

So I'm researching the two...Mayor Daly 80% approval rating...Gov Blag...12% since he's corrupt and useless as all get out!  So obviously a case of what's good for the gander eh?

THEN...I check out the news before going to bed tonight and see the Chigago Tribune reporting this:

Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested today by FBI agents for what U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald called a “staggering” level of corruption involving pay to play politics in Illinois’ top office.

Blagojevich is accused of a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy, including alleged attempts by the governor to try to sell or trade the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama in exchange for financial benefits for the governor and his wife. Blagojevich also is accused of obtaining campaign contributions in exchange for other official actions.

FBI agents served a search warrant on his office at the Thompson Center this morning, said Frank Bochte, an FBI spokesman.

Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning—one day shy of his 52nd birthday.

A Blagojevich spokesman said he was unaware of the development. “Haven’t heard anything—you are first to call,” spokesman Lucio Guerrero said in an e-mail. Blagojevich, who has maintained he committed no wrongdoing throughout his 5-year tenure as governor, said Monday that any discussions he has had were “always lawful.”

The stunning, early-morning arrest came amid revelations that federal investigators had compiled secret recordings of the governor with the cooperation of a longtime confidant. In recent days, the focus of federal investigators turned to the possibility that Blagojevich’s appointment to the Senate had become tainted by pay-to-play politics

I even read the transcript of some of the stuff he was saying about Obama not being willing to play ball about who his senate seat goes to so Blag was like forget them I'm going to get what I want...WOW!

All I can really say about this guy is I hope they signed the paperwork on pulling Illinois' business from Bank of America already.

Corruption is a failure of public trust...so be on your way and don't let the door hit you...

Off to jail you go Blag...of the aquanet hair. (No pass today)

An excerpt from the salon.com write-up:

"I want to make money," says the governor. On Pages 63-64, Blagojevich refers to Obama as a "motherfucker," and says, of the idea that he would pick the president-elect's preferred candidate without receiving something in return, "Fuck him. For nothing? Fuck him."

Oh my. I think John McCain was more convivial towards Mr. Obama.
I would say Obama got an anti-corruption endorsement off that LOL
