25 Things about hollycomesalive...

Rate: 8 Flag

1) I am not very old. I am 24. This must make me one of the youngest people on OS, although I haven't checked up on this.

2) My favorite drink is a mimosa.

3) I voted for George W. Bush in 2004. (I KNOW! I KNOW! I figured so long as we were doing confessions, might as well fess up....)

4) I am now a registered democrat and flaming liberal.

5) My favorite coffee drink right now is a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

6) My favorite time of year is Spring. Skirts come out in the spring. Flowers come out in the spring. Spring begins beach season. Perfect.

7)  I do my best work when under a deadline. I frequently procrastinate.

8) I hate to lose at board games, especially to my husband. I am a competitive person generally.

9)  I fully plan on hiking all of the Appalachian Trail once the kids are out of the house.

10)  My husband and I offically dated for 6 weeks before we became engaged. We were engaged for 4 months before we were married. We are still a perfect match even though statistically we should be divorced by now.

11) I was a DJ at the independent college radio station for 2 semesters. My show was called "The Holly Day Show". I (along with many of the female DJ's) frequently got calls from one man in particular asking if I was wearing underwear. Disturbing.

12)  I am a list-maker. I make lists for everything- goals for this week, goals for this year, what do I have to do today, what I have to do tomorrow etc.  I find them later and laugh. I get a certain satisfaction from crossing things off of my lists.

 13) I faithfully journaled my entire adolescence from age 11 to age 19. I stopped journaling at 19 because my husband started reading the journals. Now I blog, but it's just not the same. One day I'll have a ceremonial burning.

14) I sewed my junior and senior prom dresses and the dress I wore for graduation.

15) In high school I was Olive in "The Odd Couple: Female Version" and Clairee in "Steel Magnolias". I was offered a part in a play Spring semester Senior year, and being the cocky bitch that I am I refused as it wasn't the lead. I don't really regret it as the play was dumb, but I do regret my attitude.

16) I spin wool into yarn. I dye yarn into yarn with colors. I knit the yarn that I dye into pieces of clothing. It's fun.

17)  My last child was born at home with a midwife. I am a fervent supporter of midwifery in my state.

18)  I find the smell of new books truly intoxicating.

19)  I wear rainbow flip flops practically all year round, save December and January. I have a brown pair and a black pair to match everything in my wardrobe.

20) I don't watch scary movies. There's too much in the real world that scares the shit out of me. However, I do love romance movies, like Pride and Prejudice, and comedies, like Zoolander, and dramas, like Braveheart. Oh, and the Planet Earth series- Love it.

21) Speaking of which, we don't have a television set up in our home. We watch movies or episodes of the Office and House on our Mac.  I love the fact my kids aren't being bombarded by advertising from the whine of the television, but secretly I would love a 46" LCD for myself. My husband won't agree to get cable but wants a TV, and I won't agree to purchase a TV unless we're going to have cable, so we're deadlocked.

22)  My favorite dessert is Tiramisu. And NOT the Carrabbas kind. I hate their tiramisu.

23) I used to love being around people, but now I love being by myself, which is hardly never.

24)  XM Radio has significantly improved my driving experience. I love XM.

25) I love fondue. Especially cheese fondue with bread, apples and carrots. Yum.

yeah I get the list thing.
Love your list, and feel a connection about list-making, home-birthing, avoiding scary movies, procrastinating, and new books. I also stopped journaling after being read (by my mother, who confronted me about acid and blowjobs before I had any idea where she was getting her info. no wonder I'm blocked.) Also, the need for time by yourself - I was a mom at 20, and had four kids in six years.
I am getting the lists thing, I hope. I read you often, holly. I think of you as young here. I like your blogs. I love that you spin wool.
interesting!!
Mmmm.... fondue! The sewing and knitting stuff sounds cool.

I didn't have a homebirth but did have a midwife-attended birth with baby #1, which I think spared me a C-section (midwife was very, very patient).
Holly, you are way to mature for a 24 year old. I love you....I wish you were my daughter!!!
Nothing from Carrabbas tastes like anything in Italy. Nothing. Bonus points for disliking their tiramisu. Spread the word! Rated.
When you set that bonfire for #13, I'm coming. With a great big wheelbarrow of my own stuff to contribute. OK?

Awesome list.
I love Pumpkin Spice latte but for some reason find fondue to be annoying. Great post.
