D.C. Anti-Walmart Protesters Plan March on Developer‘s Home

“A group of Washington, D.C. protesters upset about the possibility of a Wal-Mart store coming to their area is hoping to send the potential developer of the proposed store a message. So much so that they‘re planning to march to and protest at the developer’s personal residence. The group has even gone as far as to circulate the man’s home address.

The group is called Wal-Mart Free D.C. and describes itself as “a group of DC residents who have come together to say NO to Wal-Mart.” In order to make its point, a flyer on the group‘s website say it’s organizing a march to harass the potential developer — Dick Knapp of Foulger-Pratt Development (the company has yet to sign a contract with Wal-Mart. The flyer sets the march for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and includes Knapp’s address.

But the address may not be the flyer’s only controversial element. Ironically, it also contains a target symbol — a similar picture to the one seen on a district map created by Sarah Palin and that’s sparked outrage from the left in the wake of the shootings in Tucson. And what‘s worrying is that the group’s symbol is connected to specific event at a private residence:”

“A similar protest from this past summer, however, raises concerns about the organization’s tactics.

Last May, a group of picketers from the SEIU showed up at the home of Bank of America executive Greg Baer. The only one home at the time of the protest, however, was Baer’s teenage son. The boy was so frightened by those shouting outside, he locked himself in the bathroom until his dad returned home (where Baer had to fight his way through the crowd) to comfort him.”

I cannot believe after everything going on in America today, a union organization does this. Ok all you progressives out there; this is your moment to shine in denouncing the acts of these organizations and using the “Target” symbol, in light of Obama’s speech at the Tucson Tragedy Memorial, denouncing such acts. We should also mention that the entire liberal progressive community jumped on to the “Target” train in denouncing an act such as this. The Liberal progressive community vehemently denounced such an act and personally attacked Conservatives.

The question is, will progressive union organizations be cast a blind eye by liberal progressives in this country or will liberal progressives walk their talk in denouncing violent rhetoric and symbolic pictures? What would happen if Patriots of America show up to defend this developer’s house? Would liberal progressives call Patriots of America the violent organization and give the protesting union organization a pass?

What happens if a shot is fired at this man or his house? Is it due to the “Target” symbol? Can you see how the firestorm of rhetoric, stirred up by liberal progressives is going to backfire on them? Democrats need to pray that there is no violence at this house or Americans are going to go into hyper drive against the Democrat party. This event is going to be the Democrat party’s worst nightmare, politically. They will have shot their other foot.

The liberals brought up the subject of the usage of this type of political material being used, not Conservatives. Now the liberals need to be held accountable for violating their own rules. The Democrat party is their own worst enemy and cannot control the actions of their liberal progressive organizations and this is why the party is going to sink. Democrats need to stand up against this DC organization and prove to America that they are going to walk their talk of peace. If not, then you lose all rights to slam Conservatives in their opposition to you. “Target” symbols will be back in vogue and Sarah Palin will be vindicated. What is happening in DC could be “The Shot Heard Around the World” and all hell can break loose in America. Is this the beginning of violent confrontations between two ideologies in America?

The choice is yours liberals, choose wisely.

I went to the "Walmart Free D.C." website, and I could not find this flyer there. That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but I couldn't find it at the website. Furthermore, the only reference I found to this protest was in a newspaper called The Washington Examiner (linked to from the "News" section of the Walmart Free D.C. website). It apparently took place this evening, was attended by about 25 people who were, according to the story, a mix of college students and residents. The Examiner said that there was no union involvement.

Link here.

I'll go on record as saying that bullseyes, crosshairs and targets should not be used by anyone.

But it sounds like you're really itching for a fight. No thanks.
Excellent piece. Rated.

I am sure the flyer was out there, but just as some people in Salon delete posts to cover themselves, the organization may have rethought their blunder and took everything down as quick as possible, or they were told to.

No matter which side of the aisle you are on, each party now is going to be under severe scrutiny and called out on their actions. One party is going to jump all over the other party from here on out, especially after the Tucson Tragedy. The reaction of the Tucson Tragedy has brought the American people to a heightened call of accountability, and unfortunately accusations.

The call to accountability will not look at the surface of a protest such as this, but rather to take a look and see what organizations could be tied to this protest by the use of stealth. There is always a trail remaining, no matter how small. The largest problem for these organizations is that they are attacking private residences instead of holding peaceful rallies in a park. This major failure on progressive tactics will cause negative reactions from the American People. This progressive tactic is a dangerous one.

The progressives might be going underground to avoid further conflict with the American people. The problem is that their agenda is already out in the open and is going to cause themselves to be looked at, even if they were not involved in a certain event. It happens to Conservatives by Liberals, and now due to Liberal reaction to events, it is going to happen to Liberals by Conservatives. A vicious cycle has been set in motion by the Tucson accusations and I fear events are such that anything can set things off.

When you say, “But it sounds like you're really itching for a fight. No thanks.”

I am no more itching for a fight than what liberal progressives are doing today flinging accusations around. The problem with what liberal progressives are doing is going to cause the opposing ideology to return the favor. You cannot expect to attack the opposing ideology and then not be held accountable for your own actions. This is where the liberal progressives are being caught in trying to censor opposing views or statements and are now being held accountable by their own words and actions, which causes progressives to go into angry rhetoric.

A classic tactic, as stated by Piven, is to use angry protests. American people are now becoming more informed in researching progressives and their leaders. Americans are seeing the agenda unfold. With Americans now knowing what they are seeing, the reaction to these possible protests is going to cause Americans to flock to the polls in 2012 in direct protest to the liberal Democrat party AKA progressive party.

Holding mass student and union protests against budget cuts is only going to alienate the Democrat party from the American people even further than what happened in November 2010. These organizations attacking a person’s private residence is only going to anger the American people further, due to our Independent nature. This is where Americans differ from Europeans and will never stand for the animalistic riots in Europe. Americans will respond if that happens and progressives will, of course, cry foul.

Independents are so thankful that Republicans took the house, not that they are better than Democrats, rather now the two sides will have to work with each other. The problem is that Democrats are having a tantrum from not having their own way like they have had the past two years. Hopefully, the tantrum will abate and even though things might not go the Democrats way all of the time, the American People will be the winners.
It's funny, but I could just as easily reverse your use of the terms "liberal/progressive" and "conservative" in your comment, and would see that as an accurate reflection of reality.

I do find it puzzling that you still insist there was union involvement in this event, despite there being no evidence to confirm that. I guess you are going to believe what you want to believe, no matter what.
We probably don't agree on much. I am a progressive that doesn't hold much sway with powerful people. Nothing I have wanted from the Democrats has happened. That being said, using cross hairs is just plain creepy and dangerous. Should they be marching on WalMart? Hell yes. No. they shouldn't be scaring people's children.
Jeanette
I think the reason I lead towards union involvement is the terminology used by this organization and the fact of using the SEIU method of attacking a personal residence. Progressivism does have a tactical plan, just ask Piven. I could be wrong. I did say these protests will be scrutinized from now on so that the Truth of who is involved will be pulled out, one way or the other. Jumping to conclusions such as was done in Tucson, sucks, doesn’t it?

Progressives are also going to believe what they want to believe. Like I said, a vicious cycle has been set in motion and it is going to take BOTH ideologies to stop it.
So do something that will help put a stop to it. Write a blog that will move us in that direction (because this blog certainly isn't it).

Or write about something besides politics. I've just looked quickly at your past blogs, and it looks like all of them are bashing liberals or progressives. That's really helpful.

What's that old saying? Be the change you want to see. Well, here's your chance.
Janice
I agree with you, if they want to stress a point, protest at a Wal-Mart store or a parking lot and not a private residence. I have no problem with that at all. Thank God that America is still a free country today and you can protest and that includes protests for both sides of the political spectrum. Protests need to be peaceful though and not the animalistic European style of protest.

Going to private residences is showing a dangerous precedence.
Jeanette
Someone needs to be the voice of opposition to an ideology one does not believe in. Are you willing to call out all of the progressive bloggers with their comments that are in opposition to Conservatism? I am sorry, what you just said makes no sense. It sounds like you just want to squash a voice of opposition. You are also TELLING me not to write about politics? This is where the progressive nature of controlling people’s lives surfaces. I am an Independent Conservative and Independent I will stay. This is why Democrats lost the Independent vote in November 2010.

Should I not stand true to my Conservative values as progressives stand true to theirs?
"You are also TELLING me not to write about politics? "

What BS. I'm making a suggestion, not trying to control you. Build bridges, make friends, let people see as something more than your politics. Or is that really all you are?

What a whiner.
Jeanette
Here we go. I guess it did not take much for your inner self to begin surfacing. Sorry to hear that, I do respect your opinion.

You said "Or write about something besides politics. I've just looked quickly at your past blogs, and it looks like all of them are bashing liberals or progressives. That's really helpful."

That is a little sarcastic, don't you agree. I am defending against liberal progressive bashing.

Why don't we stop it now before our words escalate.
I have no intention of escalating, but thanks for the advice.

There is so much good, non-political writing here, writing that affirms our common humanity, and provides a great opportunity to get to know each other as individuals, rather than party affiliations. I hope you will check some of it out.
Sorry, I left before I thought of something else.

There is a blogger here, very conservative. I doubt that we agree on much of anything when it comes to political or social issues. But he wrote a couple of blogs that let me see beyond that - one about the death of his father, and in the other he shared a poem written by his daughter. I was able to see him as a real person, and not just someone to argue with. Of course, I have continued to argue with him, but those touches of individuality are still there in the back of my mind.

I think that's the only way for us to really come together.

I guess I just don't understand using one's blog in such a one-dimensional way. I would feel very straitjacketed by that. But to each his own, and I apologize for taking up so much bandwidth here.
This group is union backed. Believe it.
Jeanette
I appreciate your advice and it is duly noted.

It is just that right now my country is first on my mind and I only rebut other political posts. If and when liberal progressives back off and take some of your advice, I will too. Believe me when I say, I wish the political climate was not the way it is today and we can all work together.

The problem is, until that day, as an Independent Conservative, our voices need to be heard or progressive voices will go unchecked, and that cannot be allowed to happen. It is through dialogue, uncensored and unchecked, that will in fact keep each party accountable.

Again, I completely understand what you are saying, but blogging is about what is on your mind, and right now my country and way of life is on my mind and my feet will trudge the mud until the end.

Thank you. Maybe one day, just not right now.
