Bio
40; army brat; bisexual... still living with my ex partner (uhm, it's complicated?); perpetually confused, which makes me look like i'm doing a ditzy act, but actually it's not put on; middle class in cash if not culture (freaking finally); INFP/INFJ; SSRI, lithium, nicotine lozenge and caffeine dependent. Driven to laziness, odd fits of needing to 'fix' things, subthreshold hypomanic moments of productiveness (rarely) and random weirdness (often). --------------------------- If you have regular suicidal thoughts, please try lithium. It's worth a shot and has worked wonders for me.

Lower middle class (by the skin of our teeth- if I lose my partner I get to go back to being middle lower class- :/ joy)

my parents joke that I'm a communist- I'm not, but they are right wing, and have been my whole life- I've learned how to figure out what I believe in and not let my loved ones move me back and forth like so much sloshing water

Perhaps you should just change your bio. The stuff in this post is a lot better than the stuff on the upper-left of the page beneath your picture.

Your actual bio makes it hard for me to take seriously anything you write. If you really think that electing McCain and Palin will be better for women in the long term than electing Obama and Biden, you are seriously delusional.
Barack is going to win Illinois with or without your vote. If you're looking to make a politcal statement, vote for McKinney.

While striving to ensure that 50% of those in public office are female is a noble goal, but so is electing a black man president. Nowhere close to 12-percent of public offices are held by African-Americans (they make up 12-percent of our total population). Only two African Americans have ever been elected governor of a state. Ever.
Hyblean -- I am voting McKinney because the Greens align most with my values and I would never vote for McCain. I also think the Dems are Reps, but with lipstick. I like your new Icon and think Edgars is right - the above should be your bio. Regarding equity for women in elected office -- I want that, but I want more. I want that 12 percent for blacks and ten percent for atheists and ten percent for those who do not identify as heterosexual and ditto for all the other marginalized folks who are not represented.

Edgar -- I'd give you a drubbing over at my page on the whole Clinton was racist while Obama wasn't sexist thing, but I have to go. Medical thing just became major with a parent.

(rated)
LT, sexism and racism were both on display during the primaries. Perhaps as a long-time Obama supporter, the Clintons' overt racism was much easier for me to spot. Luckily, there are folks like you who point out the sexism that I had glanced over without noticing. My point on your blog is that racism is still a factor, and Palin's selection may give people (especially white women) a guilt free reason to follow their silent racist tendencies and switch over to the Republican ticket. I also suggest that Clinton's racist attacks helped to legitimize this pattern.

Also, I do hope that your parent is ok.

Back to Hyblean: vote McKinney 08!

Me too :) I cannot wait until our leadership adequately represents our population!
Thanks to you both for making comments, if I thought voting for McKinney would actually get counted (electoral college) I would vote for both her and Clemente in a heartbeat, since they are women, share my ideology and are both minorities from different groups. However I will have to satisfy myself with voting for the woman on the ticket who actually will get counted, even if she doesn't hold any views similar to me. I'm sorry if our differences in belief keep you from taking anything I say seriously, Mr. Alverson.
LT Bohica, I hope your Mom or Dad has stabilized - it's scary when something goes wrong healthwise with a family member :( such a helpless feeling.
