Yeah, it's been really bad lately. I'm surprised you stuck around?! If the last few week were my introduction to OS, I'd have been gone somewhere during week 1.
Hopefully it will get better, and your patience will pay off.

You think that's bad. In the old days, the internet was chisels and stone tablets. When the server was down, we had to wait for the stone cutters to get out of bed and go chisel more stone tablets for us. Then news would break about barbarians coming over the border, but by the time you found your scribe, the print press was already invented. Then the bubonic plague hit, and no one answered their mail anymore. It was a mess!

I try to stay off in the afternoons now. . .it's just too frustrating. I wonder what kind of traffic loss this causes?

I tried it the other day and for about five minutes it was pulling up articles and accepting comments and you could switch to other posts etc.
Has any one else had that happen too?

Great post and I know that's part of the problem, but its also that there are thousands that check on OS daily and they need new servers. Sometimes there are tons of spammers over the weekend and it works really fast! I think they probably have hamsters in there running the wheel!

Yeah, I find afternoons to be a good time to go off and do something useful. And, instead of checking in during tea breaks, I've taken to READING. I'd almost forgotten about READING. (But READING doesn't talk back...I miss that...)

Myriad, unfortunately this my main free time during this contract, about 9 cst I start doing head nods :/ I miss being on from 12 to 3 am- got spoiled with that flow. Reading? isn't that something you do with an iPad or Kindle? I think I've heard of it.

I've found that sometimes when it's really dragging, going off site for a few minutes then returning will find it running a little more smoothly - have no clue why that should be, it doesn't seem to make sense :-/.

And time of day doesn't seem to make a lot of difference, I'm in here through the wee hours (on this side of the pond anyway) and it can run slow then as well.

But I'm not going to complain too much - it does get frustrating - but it's still free and unfortunately that's the only way I can stay :(.

Tech/Emily did get it back to me w/in a few minutes of me noticing it though. Go OS!
