40; army brat; bisexual... still living with my ex partner (uhm, it's complicated?); perpetually confused, which makes me look like i'm doing a ditzy act, but actually it's not put on; middle class in cash if not culture (freaking finally); INFP/INFJ; SSRI, lithium, nicotine lozenge and caffeine dependent. Driven to laziness, odd fits of needing to 'fix' things, subthreshold hypomanic moments of productiveness (rarely) and random weirdness (often).

If you have regular suicidal thoughts, please try lithium. It's worth a shot and has worked wonders for me.
OMG Love the hair, Jules, I love big hair too.. damn. And boys with eyeliner. Skinny ties and disappearing into the bathroom with little spoons.. oh, sorry.
laugh, no little spoons here, but I was legal to drink in Germany. Not that as an army brat I ever did that, nope, not me. I was a good girl... actually, sadly, I was. But strawberry champagne was my first drunk (around the time of that second pic). Flying down the mountain in my head I was that far gone. Not all good memories, but that one is. That was a weird, awkward, wonderful night.
I don't have any more here, but when I go home tomorrow if we are still in the mood for some I have some hilarious big curly hair photos, big Talking Heads jackets with all the pins and Joe Jackson boots.
I wish Margaret...it's not genetic, it was hot rollers and about 2 cans of my mom's aquanet followed by a coat of mink oil so it wasn't stiff a board back then I cared, now.....uh...well, I care, kind of....some days
my friends used to break my ass by calling my jackets "Howie" jackets after my Dad ( Howard) who was huge.. because I used to wear those big suit jackets... ha ha just thought of that.
Broken motherboard, I presume. Power cord is loose and it won't charge the battery. Too old to be worth fixing. Like I got the funds to fix it, or replace it. I don't.
Jules, very attractive post on your hairstyle from the '80s. Flash forward some 25+ years to Open Salon and where did all of those years in between disappear to?
I've still got big hair. And what's silly is when I think of all the money spent on trying to tame those wild, wild curls of copper could've gone into a cookie jar fund! ;)
Gorgeous, Jules! I see you still have that lovely smile. I'm bringing back chockers -- they rocked!;) I think I will go digging through some not so flattering photos from a very strange decade .... Or maybe, it was just me.
Beautiful smile and your hair is such a pretty color. I could do big hair in the '80s but I always wanted straight hair. I would spend time gelling my wet hair and pulling it back with a barrette so that when it finally (hours later) dried, it would be straight. Oddly enough, a flat iron never occurred to me.
I would have killed for that kind of volume (the bottom picture). I could only get mine to stay up for about ten minutes before the poof was punctured by humidity and fine, lazy strands.
Mission :( I hate losing connectivity. It makes me feel so lonely. Thank goodness for your phone.
Greenheron, me too! Pictures are fun. I never did the eyeliner on the inner eyeline. All my friends did, but it looked too slutty to me. Seems goofy now. I did everything else I could do to look 'good to go' ;D
Oh god Fernsy, I completely wasn't, and nope, not here. Karen does, but then she straightens her hair.
Thanks Designanator, I have no idea. *poof* I wish we had hundreds of years. I need at least that to wrap my head around living.
Where's yours Femme!!?
*curtseys* Thankies Chicken Man!!
Belinda, what I wouldn't have given to have naturally curly hair. You are lucky!
Thanks Scarlett. I miss them, they add just the right amount of Victorian edge.:D What are you talking about, your pics were gorgeous!?
Thanks Kanuk :D
Thanks Muse- like with Belinda, would have traded with you in a heartbeat to have that be natural.
((Sheila)) Thanks :D
Thankies Monkey Woman!!
Bleue, you are still gorgeous, and I barely managed cute back in the day. Where are your pics woman?!
Zuma!!!! Ok, that one small picture you've got up on your new post isn't all there is, is it? I wanna see some uniform.
Bikes :D I loved yours! and the songs.
LL2 That was some work there. It was permed, gelled, sprayed, hot curled and mink oiled within an inch of its life. honestly, it's a wonder I came out of that decade with any hair left at all
Bell, mine is the same, see above :D
Where's your pic Elegant? ;)
JT, I was going to the JROTC ball....uhm, yeah, I was in ROTC...thank god we didn't have to wear uniforms to it. :D and Thanks!!
Thanks Joanie!! Where's your pic?
Jeanette :D ha! I was not kidding when I said that was a can of hair spray. Good thing I didn't smoke back then.
Scarlett- my entries are a red line spellcheck frenzy. :D sometimes that can't even help I'm so off. So, yeah, I knew exactly what you meant..hell woman, you didn't even make me work for it.
Michael- awwww, come on, you gotta have at least one...

sigh, sorry for the downer, but this is pissing me off. Really wish I hadn't gone to the JROTC site. Ethical values? One of my JROTC teachers said "you think you're too good for us bitch" while touching me to freely 'adjusting' my uniform collar. "develop mental management abilities" Yeah, that one flies, too- go to a doctor and get diagnosed with depression and manage it with medications (that work) the Army won't take you (yup, I tried) but if you become a raging alcoholic as a way of dealing with ptsd or depression, that's all good. Denial and drug addiction are mental management abilities evidently.
ok, time for me to go to bed now, 4am comes early. Thanks again to Rita. I love you woman.
That second style looks a little like the 80s New Country h-Julie. I hope you weren't on your way out to some venue where someone would be sitting behind you.

Or David Byrne in that big suit video...
I miss big hair. Mine was always long and thick, back when. Before.
Hmmm .... sounds like something Cary Grant once said or was it Judy??? Anyway....
Julie - WOW!!!!!
Thanks Mission. :) what's going on with your laptop?
Thanks Kate! and you were a total hottie, and still are.
I admit that I have never tried eyeliner even once. Does it hurt? It always looked like an opportunity to slip black gunk into my eyeball.
Yep, my first GF had the same kind of hair as the first ont on top.
I thought you were very young from your av photo. Why do you look the same? C'mon, your secret's safe with us, whisper and we won't tell anyone.
Cuter now, I'll add. : )
Rita! Boys with skinny ties going into bathrooms with little spoons??
We hung out then??
