The 2nd year running, and to the same connections. Curlin deserved it in '07, but when he lost for the second time (and so badly) in the BC, Zenyatta should've gotten it. And last year...Rachel is a great horse, but the connections really played a shell game to burnish her admitedly impressive credentials into something more than they were. She never faced the older filly and mare division...which is clearly the toughest division right now...and the older males she did face were not as tough as the ones Zenyatta beat. They picked shorter races for her and copped an attitude about their fear of running her on synthetic. I think it's terrible to reward the connections for thumbing their noses at the game like that.

It'll be interesting to see if they are willing to face Zenyatta this year. They are already on record saying that the Apple Blossom is 'too soon,' which is a joke.

BTW, does Jess Jackson look like Popeye's dad, or is it just me.
