Despite being an all around pig (I would say foodie, but that implies more sophistication than is deserved), I am actually very disciplined when it comes to snacking and sweets. In the last 10 years of my life: I almost never ate candies, candy bars or chocolates; No milkshakes; very little ice cream; never soft drinks with sugar; never danish or donuts; never store-bought cookies; and I can count on one hand how many times I've set foot in a fastfood place in the last 10 years. But there is one snack that ends up in the shopping cart every single time:
Farmer Brand peanuts. Doesn't ring a bell? Well- you need to acquaint yourself with your local asian/chinese supermarket. Remember- it has to be the one with the blue background. Not the red background. Not the opaque packaging. Not the fish-skin peanuts (that one is good too- but let's just say it's an acquired taste). Not the Southern Preserved Tofu peanuts (that one is alright too- but you need to try it fresh). Not the Old-man brand neither. It's got to be Farmer Brand with the blue background. This is the Filet Mignon/ Four Seasons/ Remy Martin of peanuts.
Now you know. Go look for it in your local asian grocers. And don't say I didn't warn you- it's Addictive.
