On Second Thought

We Were Once in Love

Rate: 10 Flag

It is clear to me now

That we were once in love

In some other place and time

Some other space where fate and circumstance were harmonious.

My heart aches to know that I'll not discover everything about you that moves me

Every line on your face that frames your eyes

Those eyes that I will recognize for many lifetimes to come

Every movement of your body when it hovers close to mine

The passion and emotion in you that makes me want to drown in the words you say.

It is also clear to me now

You are a temptation too great for me

And I am a temptation unnecessary for you to find contentment.

***

What does it mean to have your heart split in two? Betrayal? No. My heart is full of love ... on many levels, on many terms, over many lifetimes. It is my fate: one will move me into a love to last a lifetime and one will be my love over many lifetimes. This is only one task of my many lifetimes. But I will prevail ... he will not infiltrate my life or love in this time. I have already mourned him.

Beautiful! Thank you!
"The passion and emotion in you that makes me want to drown in the words you say."

Moving, truthful, universal...well said...touching. Thank you.
Oh my god. This hit me like a ton of bricks. A fist in the stomach. It's absolutely beautiful and I can absolutely relate to it.
Very nice. It reminds me of something I heard not too long ago. Where someone said that instead of her heart being broken, that it broke OPEN. And that she was able to heal so much better, feeling all the different levels of love. A bigger picture of love, if you will...like the one you just drew.
I am on an emotional roller coaster here this morning. The posts are running the full gamut from light and giggle prone to sullen and contemplative.
Thanks everyone for reading. Love isn't always an easy thing, is it?
Felt it - loved it.

Peece,
David
