Some friends have decided to tie the knot. Not sure why they want to go ruin a good thing after all these years, but the date has been set. Sounds like a reason to party (like we ever need a reason!).
The bride doesn’t want a bachelorette party. At our age it is one of those been there, done that and done it some more kind of thing. Fun, yes but not a novelty after 20+ years of the wedding/divorce/wedding traffic circle that so many have travelled.
So…
I am putting together a lingerie and martini soiree. We will outfit the bride with a few new bits of silk, satin and lace before the big day (or night or first thing in the morning as it sometimes happens).
I have asked everyone to bring props- feather fans, boas, large brimmed hats, to practice any provocative moves- one of the girls teaches gymnastics and another has a history of belly dancing. We will share our strip tease or create one for those who managed to live this long without dancing their way out of their clothes as foreplay. The clothes will probably stay on, it is ladies only. But then again, you never know what happens when you mix mature women, martinis and naughty premise.
Each lady sent me their song to burn CDs for us to play during the party and copies for everyone to take home. The set list is a little shy of a full CD and I want a few more tunes to fill it up. It is a menopausal moment and can’t for the life of me think of more songs that make me want to get laid or take my clothes off.
OK, this really shouldn’t be a problem. I can hop on OS and pull up Mom’s blog. 1_Irritated_Mother did a post/repost every year polling music that inspires your lust.
When I get to her blog there are 4 posts. It seems that what I am looking for and most all of her other work are gone as well. Hundreds of her pages are gone. I miss you Mom. The Wisteria Lane pieces were fun- I had emailed the links to several friends. A master of snark and eloquent bitchiness to inspire the wannabees, I miss you. Perhaps Mother has gotten some type of paying gig and needed to reduce the footprint of her material? I am not familiar with the industry or how things work but I think that happened to Aunt Mabel.
I am just a reader/lurker, trying to remember to rate. I miss the writers who leave and delete their work- Will Someone Feed the Cat or Jocelyn Testes Harder. I am grateful for those that leave their work even when they no longer post- Freaky Troll. I shed a tear for the lost words I thought I could always retrieve and reread like a favorite book. I don't like that hole there now.
I am grateful to the many gifted writers I find on OS that provide the new pieces that I will return to for comfort, wisdom and humor.
