No remorse from the O'Reilly camp, silence construed as approval or at best a raging case of apathy towards the murder of Dr. Tiller.
The video shows clips over the past few years of O'Reilly condemning the doctor and calling for action. Comparing the doctor to Hitler, Stalin, Mao and asking what would you do if you had the chance to kill one of them?
Scott Roeder (accused murderer) left a cryptic note on Operation Rescue's (pro-life group) message board. Operation Rescue has used O'Reilly's rants as rallying cries.
Have we devolved to the point where it's OK for self-important blowhards to call for the murder of a human they do not agree with? Do TV personalities feel their exulted position allows them to say anything they want with absolute immunity?
I think its safe to say we all have issues we feel strongly about, but don't call for the death of people we disagree with. I would measure my words even more carefully if I were on TV, reaching millions and one might be disturbed.
People such as Roeder are not willing to consider they may be wrong or at least listen to the other side. They will not rest until the other side is destroyed or they get their way.
One way for them to win is terrorism, the other side capitulates because they can't stand the threat of, or actual, violence. This does not make Roeder's side right, it makes them terrorists unwilling to bend.
Self-righteous, unwavering in their righteous beliefs, willing to kill in the name of life. The last statement makes them dangerously delusional.
Bill O'Reilly's actions and inactions render him deplorable in my eyes. His arrogance and shoulder shrug to murder angers me.
This is when I tend to recede into silence and try to justify what is unjustifiable. Try to find a place to file this away in a remote corner of my brain and tell myself we have a chance to emerge as a better species.
Overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

Sounds like a statement made with comedic intent... sadly, today it's not funny at all.
Well done. Abortion is such an inflammatory issue it's rarely discussed in a civil manner.
If we eliminate the religious element (which can't be done) we could have civil discourse and apply rational thought...
This however is a dream that will not be tolerated.

I don't want to get into an argument. But miracles by definition simply don't happen 60 billion times over the past few thousand years.
They cease being miracles when they happen all the time and especially when it happens to such a bunch of undeserving carbon based lifeforms as we humans.
You have showed no link or anything to even say that this guy knows who Bill O'reilly even is. So if he doesn't watch the Factor how would O'reilly's words have caused him to do something.
Yes, O'reilly wanted "action" taken and he got it. The courts in KS tried the man and were getting ready for round two which was a different charge on doing abortions to late. Round one had to do with the procedure that Tiller went through to get approval to do them. Never has O'reilly said that someone should take the law into their own hands and kill this man.
Also the guy was crazy. The ideas that he had in his head were his own. I don't think that O'reilly talked him into it any more than you, or anyone else, could have talked him out if it.
He was just an extremist like some of the people here and it doesn't matter what you say, they are going to believe what they want, and do what they want.
It was in the video as well.
Hitler, Stalin and Mao are in a league of their own.
I also have derided GW... but never called for his death. Or implied it'd be OK if somebody took him out.
I long for the days of Walter Cronkite, the work CBS and the other 3 networks did showing the atrocities of the Vietnam War did much to bolster the anti-war movement. Today we sit in a vacuum consumed by talentless swizel sticks like Paris Hilton.
While the war plays on...
I go with the flow.
He operates as though he is above reproach and accountable to no one. I'm stunned that he's allowed to operate with no guidelines.
Actually I'm disappointed people listen to him.
For those wanting a different approach but same take, click on Douglas...
I hope Fox and the spoorcasters they put on air get named in the lawsuit.
Been busy, missed this. Thanks.
Although the majority opinion leans in the way of my opinion it doesn't make me right.
It's just the way I believe. I wrote a much more thoughtful post on Abortion not so long ago... I thought OS handled it pretty well.
Paul, this is an OK post on a worthy topic. I rushed it because I was emotional.
Thanks though...
Do any of you people who accuse O'Reilly of having anything to do with this man's murder actually think before you speak or write?
Or is it your anti-Fox agenda that is driving you?
Peopel like the man who murdered Tiller are not driven by some talk show guy. They are driven by their own sick ideology.
O'Reilly is still a blowhard though. But not an accessory to murder.
Kinda like you blackfoam, 'cept he's gotta' a radio program which lots of "peopel" listen to.

When one has nothing rationla to contribute they attack the messenger. Typical.

Murderous hatred? Do you suppose you could give us a rational explantion of murderous hatred? Other than your own agenda driven point of view.
You ask if we think before we speak. I watched and listened to his clips. I proposed he should hold himself (others like him should as well) to a higher standard because of his position.
Telling a sick person (even in ideology) they're right in thought and to do as they see fit. Is tantamount to telling Dahmer it's OK if you eat people we have a food shortage.
Then sit back and claim you did nothing wrong. It's his crass, arrogant, non-plussed response that irritates me. I'm better than you, I can say anything I want... I'm absolved by God, I'm a God Warrior/Terrorist.
Anything I do in the name a free speech and ratings and money is free and clear of responsibility. If someone has to die for my ratings... so be it. At least it was a doctor who I deemed unworthy of life... I Bill O'Reilly deemed unworthy and therefore it is so.
Nazi propagandists were executed for their roles in creating a climate which not only allowed but encouraged the Holocaust. This is no different.

Good Lord!!!!!! A drama queen!!
It just never ends. People blaming someone or something else for the sick actions of another.
This murderer had a record long before O'Reilly got involved with Tiller. Whose fault was it then?
He has no remorse. He doesn't think he did anything wrong. He's above the fray.
He could've at least said I'm sorry the man is dead. But he didn't.
Religion is the guilty party here. If it weren't for religion the Tiller would not be dead. People would be better informed and not bring children into the world to die... hey, maybe they'd use birth control and not reduce the need for abortions...
O'Reilley is just spewing dangerous religious dogma, he knows his followers will swallow and continue to follow.
I'd expect something like this from Osama Bin Laden... frightening.
"This murderer had a record long before O'Reilly got involved with Tiller. "
Better double check your facts on this one blackfoam - I just did.
Interesting phenomena that the self-righteous "religious" right rarely, if ever, rely on facts to support their frothing at the mouth.
Facts are anathema (go dig out your kiddy dicktionary for that one, clueless one) to folk like you.
Oh by the way, if you didn't notice, you truly are a slimy dickhead - no offense to slime, dicks, or heads, all of which serve a purpose, unlike you.
And how sad to exploit Dr. Tiller’s death. Just because Dr. Tiller would agree doesn’t mean we go there to pound on Fox. Olberman is so transparent here it is would be laughable if it weren’t so serious a matter. He hates the fact that O’Reilly is catholic and doesn’t hide his moral position. Too bad Olberman can’t connect with the majority. He has such a vivid imagination he should write fiction. This is purely Olberman fishing for ratings.
There are as many sickos on the left as the right. This tragedy was carried out by a deranged man. Like all sick people, they are influenced by whatever doctrine supports their sickness. Period.
Any well informed person who watches a healthy dose of both left and right leaning news & commentary knows that O'Reilly had nothing to do, directly or indirectly with Dr. Tillers death, any more than Olberman is responsible for the animal rights extremist bombings of Daniel Andreas.

Was CNN responsible for the shooting of the young new recruit soldiers at the recruiting station because of their no-stop (until Obama’s election) relentless negative reporting about Iraq and the effect on domestic terror recruiting?
It must be tough living in the shadow of a giant of the faith like Frances Schaeffer. Frank Schaeffer has denigrated his fathers’ legacy and has all but renounced his faith. He now is building his own legacy among the god haters of the world by validating the very lifestyles and practices his father worked his whole life to help people overcome.
Leave it to Olberman and Schaeffer to misquote these particular miniscule, hardly read unnamed passages from his dead fathers writings to make his sorry point.
Was Malcom X deranged when he said “by whatever means necessary”? Was Spike Lee moved by those same words to direct “Do he Right Thing”?
To blame any persons speech for any other person’s actions (in this case a deranged man with a history of extreme behavior) is backwards thinking. It fundamentally violates our right to free speech and places blame on the wrong people. Discourse is what makes this country great. Olberman wants to stop that. He is bad juju.
O'Reilly and the rest of the Christian anti-abortionists had the chance here to make a statement vehemently disagreeing with murder as a viable option.
Instead they sat quietly and said little. Leaving it open to debate as to whether they secretly find this acceptable.
Olbermann simply showed clips and commented.
I only used him and the clips from his show because they were in agreement with how I was feeling. But he's really irrelevant to the discussion.
