Being a paranoid delusional American idiot is not easy these days.
Having witnessed the conspiracy that lead to our economic demise and subsequent bailout of the guilty, it's hard to not to feel surrounded by conspiracies.
I don't know why I have these nightmares, it's irrelevant I guess.
Bolting upright in a sweat the nightmare persisted in the conscious world:
Our "leaders" pay lip-service to education, yet it behooves them to have an ignorant electorate.
Their actions for better education bely their words. As there are no actions to better education.
Could it be they are actually fomenting ignorance to better their choke-hold on power?
The industrial/military (and media) complex have come to pass. We are in the belly of the beast. Too deep in the forest to see the trees.
Alas America, you are nothing but a dream. A bunch of ideals and words often quoted, yet rarely turned into actions.
"Fat, dumb (sic) and stupid is no way to go through life" - Dean Wormer - Animal House
We, the people, are doing just that.
We, who truly have the power, are divided by the greatest propaganda machine in the history of Man.
A media monster owned and operated by the same people who benefit by our division: The military/industrial complex both President Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy warned us about.
Television was in its infancy, the internet had not been invented by Al Gore yet. These are weapons of mass stupidity, utilized with brilliance against the people.
The immediacy of the media can keep us griping about the color of Britney's pubes while the important events of the day get skipped.
Fear and loathing of "death panels" ruled for awhile. Yet they never existed, except in our little minds.
Life and death decisions occur every day. Doctors decide who to take first. Who has a chance of survival. Who has a shot at a quality life, who does not. They are not labeled merchants of death, they are deemed worthy of life and death decisions.
Anyone who watched M*A*S*H saw triage in action.
It may seem I have strayed from topic, yet I maintain all of these topics exist BECAUSE we are ignorant, ill-informed, poorly educated fuckpuppets.
Which makes us susceptible to military/industrial/media complex manipulation.
We also fail to grasp WE have the power, should we choose to wield it.
Furthermore, we are nation of irresponsible finger-pointers and ME first whiners.
Who is responsible for the economic collapse?
Who wants cheap stuff so jobs go over seas?
Who uses all the oil and complains about the wars over oil?
We, the sheople of the dysfunctional United States.
Fat, dumb and stupid suits the powers that be just fine.
Mirror, mirror on the wall who's responsible for us all?

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. - Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. - Thomas Jefferson
Most bad government has grown out of too much government.
Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty. -Thomas Jefferson
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together. - President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1961

someone should do a similar equation for political and economic power: clearly they are linked. if you are rich, you buy a politician, if you are in office, you solicit bribes.
americans are political ignoramuses because they are politically disenfranchised, and consequently, there is no pay-off for being informed and sensible.
'but we vote!?' american voting is civil war, selecting which leader shall be king, it is not management of the nation, at all. instead of throwing spears, they throw ballots. having chosen a king, the lumpen-serfs retire to their homes and play no further role in the nation. well, except the primary role of converting grass into fleece.
I've often said that if the Roman Empire had television, we'd all be speaking Latin and electing Senators to Rome.
And from the Left perspective, this is perhaps the finest call to political action that I've seen anywhere. In the 21st Century.
It is time that we start managing perceptions as aggressively as "they" are, because "they" are going at it like wildebeests, right now.
We just can't seem to figure out that, if we vote well and don't let the "perception management" get is, we are far more rich and powerful than all of the corporations and political players combined.
I just wish that our liberal and left leaning "leadership" would actually say something when they run their mouths.
The media and the government no longer represent the people.
We can simply follow the money. Actions speak louder than dishonest, disingenuous words.
You're a nice person Jay. Too nice perhaps. When did you first notice that the media and the government no longer represent the people?
I noticed it years ago, but the evidence keeps piling up in my brain so I have just the past two years been railing against the hypocrisy and stupidity.
I'm still trying to uncover the truth about 9/11... I'm a little slow.
