Krugman: Is Obama More of a Coward, or More of an Idiot?

Rate: 1 Flag

Paul Krugman, November 1, 2010…

John Boehner, the House minority leader, was widely mocked last year when he declared that “It’s time for government to tighten their belts” — in the face of depressed private spending, the government should spend more, not less. But since then President Obama has repeatedly used the same metaphor, promising to match private belt-tightening with public belt-tightening. Does he lack the courage to challenge popular misconceptions, or is this just intellectual laziness? Either way, if the president won’t defend the logic of his own policies, who will?

Is Obama more of a coward, or more of an idiot?

You decide.

The assumption is, of course, that Obama not only has a different viewpoint but that he is willing to fight for it. The indications seem otherwise.
Still hurting because you weren't asked to be in his Cabinet? Have anything, anything at all good to say??? I'm concerned, I'm not angry, I've lived too long and experienced too much to let the repubs and doomsayers get me down
The election of Obama was the hope for a leader. I do not see him leading.
The Republicans are trash. I don't know what the Democrats may be but I don't see problems solved. I have most probably lived longer and experienced more than most if that is an issue.
Thanks for commenting, Jan Sand, and I agree there's no reason to assume that Obama has any commitment whatsoever to the progressive agenda.

The third possibility, apart from idiocy or cowardice (or both) is that Obama's a bought-and-paid-for stooge for crooked bankers, created more or less out of nothing by Penny Pritzker in 2002.

Pritzker was Obama's financial chairperson in his Senate and Presidential campaigns, and a totally crooked a sub-prime banker who disappeared all the deposits from Superior Bank into bogus real-estate transactions, and then bought her way out of jail with the Pritzker billions.

And now... What a surprise!... Obama gives Penny and her friends everything they need or want, and the rest of us get fucked.
neither. you don't provide enough context. it's a set-up. Krugman is critical of Obama because the bail out wasn't enough and you don't really make it clear where you're coming from. so far, you sound like one of the angry ranters.
Ben Sen, if you're looking for context, you could begin with my diary on Daily Kos "Obama's Big Lie About NAFTA" from March, 2008, when it was already obvious to some of us that Obama was nothing but a con-man who would sell us out every time he got a chance.

And there's a lot more context about Obama in about 100 other easy-to-google diaries that I posted here, there, and everywhere, and likewise from other bloggers I trust besides Krugman, like Glenn Greenwald and Chris Hedges.
my guess at this point is you're either a tea cupper or a wanna be using "liberal" sources to con the unwary yourself. Obama is way more capable than most polls no matter how hard they try, and that sure includes anybody else currently on the horizon and these sad, sad, excuses for "leaders" that have emerged given your criteria. It's a pathetic run after the ignorant and fear ridden.

we may have irreconcilable differences. I could give a shit if you're on kos or who the hell else you say agrees with you to "prove" you have credibiity. I sense none so far in what I've seen--just the usual assumption the sheep will follow you because they don't know any better.
Okay, Ben Sen. Now I get it.

You're just an ignorant shit who can't be bothered to read anything, and you like how Obama looks on TV.

Thanks for posting, and have a nice day.
With zombies like old Ben, it's hard to tell if they are fully anesthesized or just wandering around in a stupor from which they will furiously awaken if your drill touches a nerve, Jacob. Hands down, Obama is the least prepared President in my lifetime. Even a dipstick like Krugman should realize that. Oh! Wait! Obama was better than the cadaver. I keep forgetting.
