Like Carrie Prejean, last night, Miss Oklahoma fell from grace.
One Miss Morgan Elizabeth Woolard fell victim to the harsh challenge of answering political beauty queen questions without coming across as a racist or a homophobe and, once again, failed miserably.
The question came in the context of the Arizona Immigration Law, is it just? To which, Miss Oklahoma completely agreed with the state's rights of passing such a controversial law, "That's what makes America great," she said. Seriously though, are we at all surprised? The girl comes from Oklahoma, land of Oral Robert's University and a place that continually fights to get rid of any hate crime legislation that comes out of Washington. Questioning anyone unusual, i.e. those that don't look like their from Oklahoma, is perfectly fine in the Sooner State.
Of course, it's not that she answered the question incorrectly. It is, after all, her poise and beauty under pressure that is being judged. It's the fact that she didn't really answer the question at all.
She said, "I don't believe in racial profiling or illegal immigration."
That's what really did it for me and so I pretended to lower her score in my head which saddened me, because her gown was, I admit, my favorite. The truth is, this Arizona law is legalizing racial profiling. So, Miss Oklahoma, are you or are you not against it? You can't have your Rice Cake and eat it too.
Oh well, damage is done and soon, you'll be able to release those sexy photos and sex tapes, do an interview with Barbara Walters about how you were unfairly judged when all you wanted to do was wear a pretty dress, and sign those book deals.
Life is sweet for you. Plus, I'm sure you'll be welcomed into Arizona with open arms. You, after all with your beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes, will not have to carry any form of identification.
They'll know you by your wave and air kisses.
