the internet and the 24 hour news stations are nothing but ways to control us. to keep us too scared to do anything. i am not going to be a good scared sheep anymore.
evil lives among us. it thrives on capital hill. know what i can do about that? nothing. all of us put together cant do anything. we have been shown that, have we not?
so i will watch the office. and i will fight the anger. and i will start the day with a smile and a hearty good morning. and whatever time i got left, i will enjoy. to the best of my ability. and one thing that is within my capability - is not watching the non-stop horror that the news stations need to sell us cars and toilet paper.
cars and toilet paper.
i am not their puppet anymore.

i suggest you join me.

fear sucks. I am unafraidedly afraid. I try to live my life as a warrior. but a warrior who has trepidations. I mean you can go out and smoat and slay and all that, but bring an umbrella. you never know.
I mean I still think we should storm the Capitol but we can do that and fuck the fear, can't we?!
gail - we cant storm the capital. there is no room for revolution in this oligarchy. they will shoot us wholesale. so just go watch the office, already.
rita - glad you like it - i am past learning this lesson, but i am going to learn it now - better late than never.
aintthatamerica - thank you. and like your name.
tink - i love your new pic, and i am glad you agree with me!
Awesome words of wisdom!!!!
miko - thank you. i sure never think of you as afraid though. you are an inspiration to me, you know.
outside - oxi-clean! damn!
just cathy - thank you. it just came over me when i saw the orlando story. and i feel very cold saying this, but TRULY it is either adopt this attitude or do myself in - i said, now that doesnt affect me at all, i cant prevent it, i know no one involved, and i cant prevent something similar happening elsewhere - including where i am. so what good does it do me to keep taking all this in? so wish me luck these brave words "take."
mama i will add another chair to the porch (i am going to try to SALVAGE materials to build a porch on this rented house. life is short! and we can get some wood here and some shingles there, and do it, i think!
mr. pab - thank you, kind sir!
lulu - i LOVE that you are doing that. i am going to start again too. people are too isolated. right there in the middle of a crowd, we are all isolated. ENOUGH! good job on you, and i am gonna copy the hellos to strangers, which i used to always do, but had pretty much stopped.
When I visit my parents, I'm come home a wreck because they watch cable news 24/7. I'll read the news, but I won't watch it, as the fear-mongering of some TV news outlets is just sickening.

judie - thank you very much, you sweet woman. i think i just reached my breaking point, must be what happened. so maybe having the worst pms of my life is good for something!
mary ann - i totally agree. so i am happy with this new pact with myself - it just came over me, which is very cool. its like it HAPPENED, without me making it. i hope it lasts! i feel like it is going to.
This is how it all ends. But I'm not afraid.
I'm in.

zuma - i was wracking my brain, trying to think of what they advertise. and those two stuck out like sore thumbs. toilet paper must be VERY big business. oh, and car insurance, too, and senior citizen health insurance. hmm. interesting. so, two of the four big ones prey on all sorts of fears.
unbreakable - i love the idea of this being a movement! will we have to rename it? i think i am gonna get on this - we can write letters to the papers, urging our fellow citizens to wake up with a smile and a hearty hello for each other, and ask them to TURN OFF THE NEWS, and see where that gets us! i bet in a year we would be a brand new country, unemployment or not!
leonde - we are having a very old fashioned christmas in my house, with one glaring exception (kid gets a PS3 if he is not getting in trouble at school. a BIG glaring exception). someone said not long ago that the commercials dont support the tv shows - the tv shows support the commercials! and i thought - bingo!
and lisa - DO send it to your mom! tell her to put on game show network and watch repeats of those bawdy old game shows! OR, better yet, volunteer somewhere, and see how much GOOD is actually out there - cause there is so much more of that than the bad, that we really need to start looking for it and embracing it, i think.
I'm with you.
Great points! Loved this piece and the attitude which inspired it!

buffy - i DO like tv, but at the same time i also like the idea of throwing it out the window!
cy - i dont think you are skeered at all.
and mr coogan - may i say how happy i always am to know you have visited? i hope you are doing well, all things considered. love and hugs to you, dude.
Nicely done Janie, I loved what you had to say and agree..
