Dr. J’s Daily Affirmations

45—48 are the twilight years.

You need to be well into the game at that point.

Do not give up. It is not right not to care.

Remember the ultimate phrase: We have one shot. It’s not a dress rehearsal.

Believe your own rap.

Take your ass off the mat.

Keep your eye on the ball.

Be a contender.

NO REGRETS!!

It is not about the kids, which are a poor substitute for a life purpose.

Is your next-door neighbor’s life the best you could have hoped for?

The fat lady has not yet sung (but she is clearing her throat).

You better work and justify your life!

Our ancestors/parents were immigrants who, working from the bottom, went from D to C. Your goal is B or A. Not C.

Stay focused.

Do not dissipate time or your efforts.

There are 50 ways to leave your lover but only 1 way to live your life.

Brush it off and stand tall.

Look them in the eye and take ‘em down!

Your time is always NOW and never yesterday nor tomorrow.

In the spirit of the comedic genius Sandra Bernhard: People have the Power!
Don’t let anyone screw you over.
Screw them over first.
Screw them up!!

Own the shadows and see the dream.

Keep it real.

I like this post a lot. At 55 I am struggling with some issues that I need to get under control and your post is inspiring.
Thanks Roger I'm 43 and trying to be mature about approaching that 50

I am always a sucker for inspiring quotes, especially from Dr. J.
Thanks Idaho. FOrgive me for not catching up on your writings. I've been in the midst of a taxing move from New York back to Chicago. I'll catch up over the next few days
I guess I should learn to live with and by my affirmations. This post was a still born
Jason, please don't tell me that 45-48 are the twilight years. What does this mean for me? Don't answer that. I'm loving this post...especially given my recent reflections on "nostalgia". I'm realizing it hasn't been the best way to spend my time. I'm printing out your list and putting it on my bulletin board. Time for me to shape up or ship out...or maybe a little of both! Rated and so appreciated.
Jason you have to go see this about MaryKelly who just left you a comment. I promise you will like it a lot.

Sorry, Mary but it is pretty special!
Sorry to hear that you plan to kick the bucket so soon. "45—48 are the twilight years." If you play it right those are the beginning of the best years. Each year after you have less to prove and more to be thankful for. I'm listening to a Sinatra album and as I write this old Blue Eyes is singing "The best is yet to come." Call it serendipity, or whatever. I think your best years are yet to come. Maybe mine too, despite all the med issues. Those I will either get over or learn to live with. I think I will consider this a recommendation and follow it: "Take your ass off the mat."

Take care. Be safe in that move.

Very cool, Jason. Although I feel like someone took the wind out of my sail with mention of "twilight years." Yikes! Thanks for the kick in the ass.
Here are my own abundance affirmations which I listen to often. I like the humor in your affirmations, though.
