Penn State coaching legend Joe Pa is out and all the students are up in arms, thankfully, not gun type arms. How many of these young people are really outraged over the ousting of their illustrious coach? Or, as I suggest, they are merely releasing some wild oats that could be better sewn in other ways.
Time out.
The crime here is the coverup. All it takes for evil to triumph is for a good man to do nothing. And now, after forty five years as The Coach at Happy Valley, Joe Pa leaves with his Nittany Lion tail between his legs.
Did the ruckus Penn State students open their pseudo-intellectual minds so much as a crack (no pun) to think how they would feel were they or their children violated? Of course NOT. This is the same type of coverup which sank the Catholic Church. Membership declined after the scandal sprouted in the decline of the last century. Finally in 2008, the Church experienced a slight increase in membership. Sadly the phrase suggesting that a rotten apple spoils the entire barrel is quite true.
To fully address the crux of this situation in this article would never do justice to those who were wronged. The list of those injured by this crime is lengthy. Focus on this: All those Happy Valley People smiling and happy, victorious, while simultaneously a few broken souls shuttered with the shame of what had transgressed. Step back. Now picture yourself as one of those who suffered the enormous indignity.
Will Penn State be forced to endure any consequences after this tragedy? Only time will tell. The students, with their heathen behavior, have done the university more harm than good. Their un-disciplined deportment rivals that of Sandusky. Neither took controll of themselves. Their restive actions foreshadow our dire future. These students, sadly are our fate. I dread the day they take over.
To those who rioted at Penn State I say: "Curb your momentary emotions! Stop and think how your actions will reflect what you represent to those who do not know each of you personally. As you say, you "are Penn State!" Consider how your present deeds will impact your future."

For Sandusky, it's too late. His lack of willpower was his downfall. His absence of morals may have ruined more lives than his own.
For Jo Paterno, he will still go down as a legend, no doubt. However, if he so much as smiled during these riots, the real joke is on him.
***Only a few short months have passed since the scandal broke. Joe Pa has passed away. I can only guess that the real cause of death was a broken heart. Why his heart was broken, we can only speculate. My optimistic self hopes it was for the right reason. Most apropo is the ever famous Edmund Burke quote: "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men do nothing."
May none of us ever be faced with this situation.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. Let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
