In my whole life, I have never watched the entire Grammy Award program. Who has that much free time. Even doing the DVR thing still involved nearly two hours that may have been better spent. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. Now I am not a Grammies newbie. I've seen portions before. This was the first time I decided to alot 4 hours of precious DVR space to this show.
Usually my DVR is chocked full of Jeopardy, Nova, How the Universe Works and Flyers hockey. So I carefully selected a few archived items to delete.
An awards show is an awards show. Full of waif thin, pale women in designer originals, with pasted smiles coupled with their S.O. who often looks like a soft ice cream swirl was frozen on their head.
The Grammies were not like that. First, was I the only one who noticed that the female talent did not resemble a refugee camp. They had womanly figures. Adele, Kelly Clarkson, and Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard looked fabulous. While I wouldn't necessarily run out to buy a copy of Adele's dress, she wore it well. Curvy Miranda Lambert looked and sounded sensational. Thanks to all these women who show us we do not have to be social Xrays to look super in designer gowns.
Here are my 10 favorite moments, not in order:
Hearing Alabama Shakes' version of Take the Load off Annie
Seeing Kimbra's gown. Crazy!
The tribute to Patti Page and Carole King by Kelly Clarkson
Fun. performance, win and just seeing them in the audience
Laughing when Fun. lead singer, Nate Ruess admitted they are not young, unlike their lyrics.
LL Cool J's introduction of Prince
The tribute to all those from the music who passed in 2012
Carrie Underwood's amazing dress! What a show stopper.
