Oh, by all means, I'd be quite prepared for that eventuality.

Psycho Beach Party (w/Los Straitjackets)

Rate: 5 Flag
Just in time for the weekend, here's  a groovy video from Los Straitjackets (everybody's favorite wrestling-mask-wearing surf band)!  Psycho Beach Party came out in 2000, and the Straitjackets provided some of the music and made an appearance in the film.  It's a spoof of 1960's beach movies, with a little B-movie horror thrown in.  (You might recognize Lauren Ambrose, who also starred in HBO's Six Feet Under.)
And for those of you who think Nashville only produces country music, I can proudly say that Los Straitjackets got their start here!  If any of you SF OSers like what you see, they'll be playing at Slim's on September 12th with Southern Culture on the Skids.  I know, it's a long time off, but you'll need to prepare yourselves.

Dick Dale Meets Freddy Krueger and they end up on Frankie and Annette's blanket.

Rated for a Friday guffaw.
Always glad to make someone laugh.

Sometimes, I think they're too campy for their own good, though. Because they really are great musicians.
OMG! OMG! I loooooooooove Los Straitjackets! Great live band too- I saw a concert w/them in Chicago and they brought the house down.
JustJuli, you have most excellent taste. They are really great live. It has been way too long since I've been able to see them.
Pleasantly surprised.
Sage, glad to see you here - it was not expected!
I don't surf, but I love surf music.

Cool, like the masks and the chick. For some reason this reminds me of a Rob Zombie film.
Where do you surf in Nashville? ha ha
Psycho Beach Party is a fun film. Did you notice that Amy Adams had one of her first roles as Marvel Ann? The only other Marvel Ann I've ever heard of in a movie is Hayley Mills's nemesis cousin in The Trouble with Angels. I think Charles Busch in his play that Psycho Beach Party is based on meant that as an homage.
Willie, I don't surf either. Why is it that I love this music so much?

Ron, I think there's one of those wave pools around here somewhere. Perhaps I could try my luck there.

RetroDaddy, I haven't actually seen this film, so I didn't know that Amy Adams was in it. I had read that it was based on an off-Broadway, but I didn't know about the possible "Trouble With Angels" connection (I'm remembering your blog on nun movies!).
Great band. Gotta dance!
