Oh, by all means, I'd be quite prepared for that eventuality.

Poll: Obama "Deeply Disappointed" in American People

Rate: 8 Flag

A new poll shows that, by an overwhelming majority, President Obama is disappointed in the American people. When asked, "Do you approve or disapprove of the job the American people are doing?", the survey respondent replied in the negative.

Complete Poll Results:

1)  Do you approve or disapprove of the job the American people are doing?

Approve - 0%

Disapprove - 100%

2)  What is your level of disapproval?

   Mega - 0%

   Ultra - 0%

   Deep - 100%

   Moderate - 0%

   Just a Smidge - 0%

(Number of people sampled:  1.  Margin of error:  +/- 0%.)

When asked to elaborate, President Obama said, "Let me be very clear. When I ran for this office, it was with the belief that the American people are smart, fair, energetic, and that they wanted change.  If you'll recall, my campaign slogan was 'Change We Can Believe In'.  The voters went to the polls and their decision was loud and clear.  So, you'll have to pardon me for thinking that the American people really wanted things to change."

He continued, "Now that we have the opportunity to reform health care, I am disappointed that so many Americans have not even read the bill, and instead have chosen to believe that we are going to establish death panels or that having a public option will lead to communism.  I am also quite troubled that people are bringing automatic weapons to town hall meetings and carrying signs depicting me as Hitler or The Joker.  And it goes without saying that people who think I am a Muslim and/or a foreigner are stunningly misinformed at best. Perhaps I should have tackled education reform first, beginning with a refresher course in Civics 101.   And always remember, critical thinking is your friend."

"If you'll recall, I once said, 'We are the ones we have been waiting for.' What I meant was that change is not always some outside force that acts upon us. I meant that we are the catalysts for the change that we want to see.  It is within our power to make it happen.  My fellow Americans, I know that you are fundamentally good people, as is evidenced by the fact that my disapproval level has not yet reached "Ultra" or "Mega" levels - although just a few months ago, I was only at "Just a Smidge".  In short, I am going to need a little more help here.  Thank you, and may God bless America."

In case you didn't catch on, this is completely made up.  My husband and I were having a conversation about those polls that show Obama's "disapproval" ratings going up, and we thought that, at times like this, Obama might be forgiven for thinking, "Right back at ya', America."

I certainly have my concerns about the outcome of health care reform, and it seems like Obama is compromising too much on important issues. But the level of vitriol and irrationality out there is disturbing and, yes, deeply disappointing. I really think we can and should do better than this.

Rated! Sorry I can only do it once! Very clever - and also very right-on. Where the hell are all those people who voted for Obama, for change, for health-care reform...
Thanks, Myriad! I was a bit worried that my feeble attempt at satire would provoke cries of outrage.
Kat, thanks for checking to see if this had been done already. Sometimes I worry that something I've read before has just been lost in my brain, only to pop out as something that I think is original.
this is excellent! thank you. rated and lvoe love love
Thanks so much, Teddy!

Maybe political satire isn't my strong suit...
This is brilliant, Jeanette!! Oh, if I were Obama, I'd feel this way, too. People in this country are literally sitting on their fat asses griping about the way this guy is doing the toughest job in the world and not even bothering to be informed in their opinions. It's infuriating!

And why isn't THIS on the cover of OS?
Aww, thanks. A word of encouragement from you is always appreciated.

I think I've felt only a small bit of what Obama must feel. After bargaining a tough contract, for example, it would really bother me to listen to people complain who would never in a million years put in the time and effort it takes to do that. It can get pretty demoralizing. Multiply that by about a million, and I guess that's what it feels like to be Obama right now.
Rated. This isn't feeble at all. I only hope all the Obama supporting lefties/progressives who are now plotting his overthrow understand they have to make up for the margin of righties who purposely voted for Obama once the election's outcome became inevitable.
Well yeah, but what was he doing last week to mobilize the people?
LOVE it. I occasionally watch Glenn Beck to see what mischief he's up to, but it's painful - both to look at him and his pseudo-innocent face, and to think of all the people who are watching him because they. . . (I can't say it. . . ) LIKE him. I'm skeeeered. And disappointed in us humans.

Couldn't we dig up something scandalous on Glenn? (Just saw his diatribe on Van Jones, which started with a bizarre chalkboard episode: "FIRST, I want to ask you: Do you believe wealth should be taken from the rich and given to the poor?" etc., etc. Three questions written in chalk, followed by a break, followed by footage of Van Jones saying such frightening things as "We need to look at how we treat each other, and the earth". Scary guy. Beck, not Jones.
