An activity designed for father daughter bonding?
After lamenting about the fact that I was spending too much time at work in the hospital, and not enough time with the family, I decided to remedy the situation.
So, here we are at the kitchen table having breakfast. My daughter picks up her spoon and says, "look daddy, I can see my reflection!". Using that as a cue, I picked up my camera and the above photo is the result.
This is my daughter, holding a spoon. My intention was to recreate the effect of the MC Escher etching, "Hand holding a Reflecting Sphere". (see below) I took the above photo with a Nikon D 90 Digital Camera.

There is the obvious observation. Both images have a certain feeling of introspection and focus on the sense of self which could very well form the foundation of existential philosphy.
The Spoon Photo was taken about 10 years ago. Did my daughter then go on to get a PhD in existential philosophy? No, not exactly. But she made her daddy proud by enrolling in one of the top art schools in the country, excelling as a fine artist and photographer. Father daughter bonding has never been stronger.

I love the spoon image - she looks so serious. You should do this every decade or so, it could make an interesting collection.
Thanks for reminding me how much I've always loved Escher. There was a wonderful show at the National Gallery in DC several years back, but I haven't looked at any of his pieces since then.
