Knockout Suzanne Somers Jeffrey Dach MD Knockout by Suzanne Somers, Attacks Cancer Establishment by Jeffrey Dach MD

Suzanne's new book, Knockout, relates her personal story with cancer in which she searches for doctors curing cancer with new techniques.  In the book, Somers interviews pioneering MD's who successfully treat cancer patients using new or innovative treatments not recognized by the cancer establishment.  The book brings to light new information that the cancer establishment desperately seeks to suppress, and indicts chemotherapy and mainstream cancer treatment as largely ineffective.

The Establishment Fights Back- Larry King Canceled

Suzanne's scheduled Book Interview on the Larry King Live show Monday night at 9 PM was canceled and hastily replaced by Wolf Blitzer's pablum.  The canceled Larry King Show with Suzanne included two of the doctors from her book, Stanislaw Burzynski and Nicholas Gonzalez.  Wolf says the show has been rescheduled for Friday night at 9 PM.

Why the cancellation?  I suspect the networks are being pressured by the cancer establishment not to air the show.  After all, cancer treatment is a big business run by large corporations that fund the television networks with huge advertising revenues.  Allowing Suzanne Somers to highlight alternative cancer treatments that work is not in their best interest, nor is it in the best interest of the TV networks who depend on advertising revenue from these corporations.   The last thing their shareholders want is a huge bite out of annual profits.

Book Interview With Ann Curry Today Show

Suzanne appeared with Ann Curry on the Today show Monday Oct 19, in a brief 4 minute Book Interview (see clip below).

Susan's Cancer Scare

Susan relates a frightening experience when she entered the hospital with respiratory symptoms and was told she had cancer spreading throughout her lungs.  Thankfully it was a false alarm.  A lung biopsy showed it was not cancer, rather it was a common fungal illness, Valley Fever, also called coccidiomycosis.  Years ago in my training days as a radiologist, we commonly saw evidence of old "Valley Fever" infections on Chest X-Rays as characteristic small rounded calcifications in the lungs.  These were incidental findings that required no treatment.

The Failed War Against Cancer

Regarding cancer treatment, I sense a general feeling of frustration in the population.  On a personal note, I can tell you that many people in my community are stricken and dying from cancer with little help from the mainstream medical system.  The medical treatments with cytotoxic chemotherapy are cruel and barbaric treatments, serving to prolong agony and suffering for a few additional months.  Friends and family stand by, helplessly, watching their loved one gradually succumb.

This dismal failure of conventional cancer treatment was recently highlighted by the rapid demise of Ed Kennedy with a fatal brain tumor, a glioblastoma.  In spite of the best care available in the US, a high profile personality who had actually crafted health care legislation himself,  suffered the same dismal 6-12 month survival as any one else.

The Time is Ripe for Health Reform

Perhaps Suzanne Somers also correctly reads this public frustration with cancer. and her new book is perfectly timed to take advantage of the changing tide of sentiment.

Suzanne Somers trots out onto the stage three MD's working outside of the mainstream cancer paradigm with considerable success.  Here they are:

Stanislaw R. Burzynski, M.D., Ph.D

Dr. Burzynski isolated peptides called antineoplastins which have anticancer activity. Results have been impressive for brain tumors, such as the one that killed Ed Kennedy, and another type of cancer called lymphomas.

James W. Forsythe M.D

Dr Forsythe has considerable success treating cancer with a nutritional supplement called Poly-MVA, invented by Merrill Garnett.  This is a non-toxic nutritional supplement that contains palladium, and takes kills cancer cells while it spares normal cells.

Nicholas Gonzalez MD

Dr Gonzalez treats cancer with a protocol developed by William Kelly based on the work of embryologist John Beard called the Trophoblast Theory of Cancer.  Gonzalez uses high dose pancreatic enzymes along with a detailed nutritional supplement program.  Gonzalez has had considerable success with cancer remissions in advanced cases, especially pancreatic cancer.

Hounded by Regulatory Agencies

Rather than hailed has pioneers, all three have been hounded by regulatory agencies and persecuted for "thinking outside the box".  Forsythe for example, was set up by a rogue FBI agent who posed as a patient asking for growth hormone.  The case was thrown out of court.  Burzynski battled in court with the FDA for many years ultimately emerging the winner.  Gonzalez also has his brush with the New York State medical board.   He was reprimanded in 1994 and  license placed on probation for "departing from accepted practice". He eventually resolved the issue and remains fully licensed.

A More Favorable Interview at Insider

I love thinking outside of the box with medical issues. As a 34-yr-old mother of two young boys I had a gall bladder attack a few months ago. My regular doctor told me removal was THE ONLY option. I asked her for a referral to an internal medicine specialist and she was irriated and delayed the referral. The specialist has since given me a couple of options besides removal such as cleanses and medicine which will enable me to keep my organ.

I know that I am getting off topic here, but the relevant point is that we need more medical opinions allowed in the health care arena. I would love an environment in which doctors from all different disciplines would openly debate a patient's concern while the patient askes questions. Then, fully armed with the options, could make her or his decision.

Thank-you for posts such as this, I will look forward to seeing the Larry King Live special tomorrow... if it airs that is.
I am put in mind of that excellent movie about a true story, "Lorenzo's Oil." Even the charity set up to help victims was against the parents of the little boy, who were achieving results in a quite unorthodox manner. Can't remember all the details, but it made an excellent point. A healthy distrust of the huge profit-making drug companies & their side-kicks in the establishment is recommended.
Thank you for this! The mainstream media is indeed hostile to Suzanne - why? I don't know since all of us have people who have died from cancer even while using the best of chemo and radiation and surgery. I have watched and am watching the false optimism of the oncologists even as their patients [my friends] suffer and die from metastacized cancer they never even check for. It is indeed barbaric.

Suzannes story about being told by the BEST doctors in L.A. that she was dying of cancer and it was spread through her body just a year ago was horrifying. I heard her interviewed on Friday and it made me sick. Buy the book just for that story - it is crazy! They were wrong wrong wrong and never even said, oops! We're sorry.
I watched the rescheduled interview with Larry King, initially with interest, thinking "Here's an intelligent, informed woman", but later convinced that she is lying. For several reasons: I've NEVER heard the nonsensical term "full body cancer", nor has any other medical professional I know; it's unlikely they would have done a CT scan on a patient with dyspnea (shortness of breath) and a rash; it's implausible that a hospital would have 4 "infectious doctors" - in my experience (ER nursing in 8 different hospitals over the years), hospitals have one infectious control specialist; it's just plain silly that, as she claims, they would have told her she had, and TREATED her for: tuberculosis, leprosy, and meningitis without verifying the diagnosis, which is not difficult to do for any of these diseases; patients are not "wrapped in plastic and taken to a room way up on the top floor" when they are potentially contagious. Hospitals regularly deal with communicable diseases, and have fairly simple procedures for preventing spread: a room with an exhaust fan (of which there are many in hospitals, on regular wards); a cart outside with hand sanitizer, paper gowns, and face masks for various types of infections; and a sign advising visitors what type of protection they need. There's no reason they would "cut open her throat" to take a lung biopsy (and there is no scar that I could see. . .); and NO doctor would later come to her room and say "What do you know - you DON'T have cancer. Your body is completely free of cancer". This is not something anyone could establish, nor a statement any doctor would make.

Equally suspicious is that Ms. Somers will not name the hospital or doctors she is accusing of such implausible actions. She implies this is high moral ground; my suspicion, however, is that she know that HIPPA privacy laws preclude anyone's proving or disproving her outrageous story.

The fact is, she could have fabricated the ENTIRE story, or any part of it, and no hospital could contradict her, as she has not named any hospital. No one can prove that she was or was not a patient.

Except Ms. Somers. If she wants any credibility for this outlandish story, she could: produce witnesses who were with her that night - did her husband or her friends she was out with before she was rushed to the emergency room come with her to the hospital? Are they able to corroborate her story? She could also publish her medical records, with names of the doctors and hospital deleted - not difficult to do. I suspect she will not do these things, because I suspect she fabricated some or all of this story.

Being in the spotlight is addicting, especially for someone whose self-worth has been largely fed by her beauty and celebrity. Ms. Somers may be free of cancer, but I think she has some other issues that bear looking into.
I'm somewhat surprised at my newfound animosity toward Ms. Somers; it results from a couple things: one, I HATE being lied to, and two, by her addiction to celebrity, she is encouraging people to forego traditional treatment for cancer. These are clearly difficult and imperfect, but they are at least based in scientific inquiry into effectiveness, vs. anecdotal "I knew someone who did this and got better" evidence, which abounds in her stories. I agree there are effective alternative treatments that traditional medicine has not embraced or proven, but it's silly to throw out one in favor of the other. And it's unconscionable to garner money and fame encouraging people to do so.
Amen aging hippie chick!
ok, I said it before and I'll say it again..this woman sticks needles in her vag every day (faux hormons), to stay young..she is a wackodoo.
I had no idea. WACK-a-doo.
This is hardly an unbiased report on Cancer treatment or Ms. Sommers efforts and her book. The good doctor is himself an advocte for alternative medicine and as such his words should be taken with at least a bit of salt. The entire thing sounds more like the professional version of an upcoming infomercial, but that's just my opinion.

I have some experience on the subject. I have a son that was at first given less than a month to live but now that he has begun MAINSTREAM treatment, his prognosis has been upgraded and we shall now have at least until Thanksgiving with him. So you see, mainstream medicine isn't as hopeless as some will lead you to believe.
This is a matter of personal choice. Everyone needs to make up their own mind about which they would perfer in the way of treatment WITHOUT the likes of the good doctor and the bimbo blonde throwing around quasi-facts in order to make a buck either on book sales or their own "treatments".

Just my Opinion.
What is the sound of one duck vocalizing?
I can understand being “true believer” in alternative medicines, and if you want to try testing out new ideas in desperate circumstances… I can see that. But to advise against undergoing treatment for ANY CANCER? I… I just can’t wrap my brain around it! As anybody with even the slightest amount of medical education knows, there are hundreds of different types of cancers with many more types of treatments… Some VERY successful (95% +)…and to just make recommendations concerning all of them in one huge, sweeping lie… what kind of sociopathic monsters are we dealing with here? What is wrong with you? How much money is enough for you people? At least professional admit that they kill people for money. Really… I have no words here for this kind of evil.
Does anyone else remember the story Somers put out there a few (maybe as long as ten?) years ago that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer but was not going to do any convention medical treatment (chemo, surgery, radiation) for it? Instead, she planned to tackle it with her nutritional program and her bioidentical hormone regimen.

If it (i.e., the story of the diagnosis) was true, then more power to her. But in view of this latest story, methinks -- or at least mewonders -- if she might not be just a wee bit histrionic when it comes to the whole issue of cancer, and overly quick to use it to forward her own crusades, as worthy as they might be in their own right.
Everybody who has a family member suffering from ocular melanoma metastasized to the liver, spleen and lungs for which cutting edge immuno-embolization therapies have failed and for which dedicated medical researchers and specialists receiving no monies from drug companies are now trying chemo-embolization in combination with other clinical trial meds TOGETHER with alternative therapies including homeopathy in a LEGITIMATE attempt to buy that family member and her family valuable both quantity and quality time, raise your hand.

Everybody who has something to gain from flogging Suzanne Somers, and himself as a conduit of expertise and salvation, raise your hand. Holy crap.
No no NOOOO! Read my lengthy rant about halfway down. Suzanne Somers's integrity is suspect, in my opinion. Just sayin'.
Jeffrey - It is so refreshing to read something so positive about Suzanne Sommers and her work. She has devoted the better part of the last 25 years to beating cancer, eating and living healthy and finding wholistic ways coupled with western medicine to survive cancer and live a happy healthy life. I have read several of her books, the all time favorite of mine being, "Eat, Cheat and Melt the Fat Away." Best method of eating healthy and preventing obesity with proper food combining and sensibility. She is an exercise advocate as well and has given women and men a real eye opener with her research and practice of NBHRT (Natural Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy). I began this type of HRT when I was 55 and feel absolutely amazing. One of the best outcomes is the quality and length of my sleep, without sleeping aids. I went from 5 hours sleep a night if I was lucky to 7-8 sound, natural sleep every night. What a difference in health and attitude good sleep provides.
Another doctor of Suzanne's and mine, Dr. Robert Greene, wrote a terrific book a few years back, "Perfect Balance," written for both men and women and deals with much of what Suzanne extols as well.
And I can't say enough about "The Sexy Years!" That book is the most positive look at healthy aging and hope for women suffering some of the extreme and unpleasant symptoms of menopause and beyond. Well, I could gush on and on here about Suzanne, whom I have the utmost respect for on so many levels. She is not in any way some "washed up 2nd rate actress," as some have recently portrayed her in the light of her new book. There is enough room in this world for doctors of all disciplines and other choices, whether alternative, integrated or a combination of many medical choices along with natural life sustaining/improving methods. Most of us do not have the time or are willing to take the time that Suzanne Sommers has for over 2 decades, to research and share her findings and expereince with alternatives to western medicine. She is worth more than a read and has helped thousands of people who have run into brick walls elsewhere. Thank you so, so much for posting this!!!
wow, glad I checked back here. It never ceases to amaze me how some folks that would considered themselves "liberal" or "open-minded" are so quick to shout down different opinions. I didn't read anything in this post that would warrant such personal attacks.

I happen to want education on both sides of this issue. I will read this doctor for one side and Dr. Amy for the other. Neither one may encompass my point of view entirely, but a nice debate is always healthy and conducive. Some of you would rather the alternative viewpoint be shut out entirely - very hypocritical and troubling.
Aging Hippie Chick illustrates a problem that exists anytime any person of celebrity steps forward with an attack on the cancer orthodoxy. Read her remarks in this blog with care. Anytime an individual like Suzanne provides a plausible concept that maybe, just maybe we are not doing everything right where cancer treatment is concerned, that person invariably becomes the target of attack on their credibility, their character and their intent.

We are asked to believe that an entire alternative medical universe of doctors and researchers would surround a well-informed person like Suzanne, and that she would write a book providing compelling arguments and data for her case, only to short-circuit the lifesaving aspects of that work by telling lies and distorting events.

Buying into the arguments of Aging Hippie Chick can have only one conclusion: Disavow everything that Suzanne Somers writes in this book while dousing it with lighter fluid and igniting it in the nearest open grill, and go back to clinging to doctors who would load our systems with toxic chemicals that will kill us before the cancer does.

Pardon me, but I'm not buying. I'm frankly tired of this approach of killing the messenger. The same thing happened to Dr. Gary Glum when he wrote a book, "The Calling Of An Angel" about the life of Rene Caisse who brought awareness of the Essiac herbal compound to the world -- an effective cancer treatment that almost NEVER gets mentioned even in the world that Suzanne is living in.

IT HAS AN 85% EFFECTIVE RATE OF ELIMINATING KNOWN CANCERS. My mother is alive and well largely because of it. My brother's father-in-law went into complete remission from STAGE 4 colon cancer entirely because of it, having been sent home to die. Disbelieving doctors sent his blood tests back to the lab FOUR TIMES, unwilling to accept that the samples were cancer free. A friend's wife treated her own cervical cancer with it to the angry objections of doctors, only to return to the clinic 12 weeks later inexplicably cancer free.

It is thought that one of the elements of the herbal tea mixture (sheep sorrel) interferes with the invading cancer cell's ability to assimilate oxygen, an area of legitimate study within the cancer orthodoxy but they never, ever look at sheep sorrel because the alternative is TOO CHEAP. Anything that saves lives that doesn't generate tens of millions of dollars is unacceptable.

Why? Because the cancer treatment industry is the second largest dollar industry in the world next to the petrochemical industry. To release a statement proclaiming the effectiveness of Essiac would not only drive the costs of the four ingredients of the formula through the roof, but would have the same economic effect as nuking the six largest cities off the face of the earth.

All alternative therapies faces such challenge. Doctors with whom I am personally familiar are doing ground-breaking work with adult stem cells, and in one case involving a celebrity friend of mine, assisted him in REGROWING HIS OWN SKULL under a metal plate that had been inserted under his scalp years earlier to cover an injury that exposed his brain. No one, not even his own family, believed it was possible and were braced to file massive lawsuits against these doctors -- that is, until the therapy was a complete and utter success.

The medical orthodoxy works around the clock, desperately trying to find a way to shut these doctors down or silence them. I am not a conspiracy theorist -- I am a conspiracy ADVOCATE who is certain that a conspiracy is in place to silence any alternative medicine that challenges the orthodoxy.

Suzanne Somers is awake. It's time we all aroused from our sleep, before modern medicine kills us all.
