The Male Pill

Rate: 9 Flag

Ok.

Thanks to a provocative question on a previous post of mine, I have gotten to ruminating on the myth of the male birth control pill. Ok, maybe it was more like venting than ruminating, point being, I'm thinking about it, and now I want to ask others to think about it too.

1. If you are a heterosexual male, would you take this pill, were it to ever be a "safe sex" option?

2. Would you take this if it caused weight gain, mood swings, or possible temporary impotance and lack of sexual desire?

3. On what basis would you decide if taking a male birth control pill was a valid option for you?

Ok. Go.

Yes, probably not (would probably prefer condoms at that point), and by benefits (duh) compared to drawbacks and side effects.
I'm almost 30. Pregnancy would be more of a blessing than a curse at this point.
Since I'm a woman (and "fixed"), I would just want to take the position of Chauncey Gardner's character from the movie "Being There" and say, "I like to watch". Rated.
I got snipped after a couple of kids. But honestly, when I was younger, the answer to your questions would likely be 'no.'
I had a vasectomy.
Great questions, Jennifer.

Cartouche, now I must watch "Being There" :D

Essentially I'll echoe Incandescent's replies. I'd try it after looking into FDA trials, then give it a go to observe the side effects.

However, as a Vama Marg Tantra practitioner, there are certainly reasons for me to consider the biochemistry of my own fluids during times of mutual cultivation of the elixer -- for the same reason female partners who also practice cultivation of kalas considers hers; in a controlled experiment, our biochemistries should be, ideally, free of pharmacueticals.

If there were side effects... well, I've been in love before. And like so many women have chosen to deal with the side effects for the sake of sex without barriers, I too may choose to undergo such trials if a partner I was deeply bonded with wanted it. But as of now, I say 'no thanks' if it gave me side effects which disturbed homeostasis.

On what basis... I had to critically think about that. On the basis of liberty and mutual happiness in a relationship.
Thanks everyone for your wonderful feedback, and sorry for my delay in responding.

It is nice to see there are some progressive males in the bunch.
Your questions make vasectomy seem like a pretty good option.
don't do it, boys!! read my most recent post first. knowledge is more fun than medication!
The Pill is a bad deal...for any party. The more I read about the Pill and it's far-reaching implications, the more I wish I never took it during my lifetime. Then again, I'd have like 20 kids, so...sigh.
