I'm a mother of four beautiful children. A teenage daughter, 9 year old son, and 4 and 5 year old boys with autism. I'm juggling a lot, and sometimes I drop it all! Oh, and I'm transforming my former 300 pound body into a more healthy 155 pounds. Doctors orders! Only 105 more pounds to lose - and I won't miss them!

Money for Autism Therapy

We're at the end of our rope.  Our house is mortgaged to the hilt, we've maxed out all of our credit cards to the tune of $80,000, our stock options are almost depleted.  Even if we were able to continue therapy for the next two years, we have no idea how we could ever

We're All Tired of Waiting

I watch children go without treatment, I see mothers cry because they can no longer afford therapy, and one of my good friends is finishing up her bankruptcy this month because she gave everything she had to save her son.  Where is the outcry?

We are too busy worrying… Read full post »

I've grown up in Missouri.  My East Coast relatives always said they felt sorry for me because the Midwest is so "backwards".  Statement… Read full post »

277 Pounds...

   scale1

I stepped on the scale today and I'm 277!!!  Down from 298!!!

I've lost 21 pounds and there are already so many changes.  At close to 300 pounds I could no longer fasten my seat belt, buy pants with a zipper, wear 3x and buy clothes in a store, walk up… Read full post »

The Autism 50...

Stuffing emotions with food is not a great idea, but I think it saved my life.  It was either sugar and caffeine, or the funny farm.  I was in an impossible situation and didn't know what else to do.  Unfortunately I'm not alone.  Over the last three years I've watched so… Read full post »

Light at the End of the Tunnel

Since September, 2006 our family has been hit with autism, depression, another diagnosis of autism, diabetes, and a heart condition.  Add to that financial ruin and it's a mix for absolute disaster.

How have we coped?

Laughter, antidepressants, chocolate therapy, soda and talk therapy.&nb… Read full post »
