We have the right to breathe only because we took our first breath. But at any time, though no fault of our own, that right can be taken way. So long as we breathe, it is each of our prerogative to seek the happiest life which can be afforded to us.
If chance and fate have it that today is a Good Day for you or I, I do not wish to think it is due to a finicky deity seeking to bestow his blessings.
Believing there is intelligence behind happenstance implies there is reason or justification for such. Rather, it is not that you have earned or deserve such rewards in life any more than you would earn or deserve the insufferable sorrow tomorrow may bring.
