Doomsday - December 21, 2012 Debunked

Rate: 1 Flag

Finally, after the past year or so of media hype, NASA stepped forward January 1st to start 2012 by debunking "doomsday". I believe NASA, they seem to predict the movement and motion of those heavenly bodies around the galaxy down to the split second. And they have, since before Neil Armstrong hurled through space like a mighty bolt from the hand of Thor and landed on the moon July, 20th 1969.

I always assumed  the Mayans merely ran out of space on that big round, rock calendar. The boulder was probably too heavy to turn over and continue on the other side. But, did anyone ever think to actually turn it over?  It may well continue!  I know, you're not allowed to touch it, but come-on some serious answers are needed here.

Of course the truth of  the matter is this -- its a cycle, you know a round thing, a circle, it has no end. Thats the way round things work, no end, they just keep rolling along. The Mayan guys were, well to put it mildly, ahead of their time. I bet every one of them could have been a member of today's Mensa. So if they thought the world would end some day they wouldn't have gone to the trouble and pains taking effort to carve the calendar out a round rock. Winding back my Rolex "stonehenge" special edition- I can hear one Mayan guy now in my Pro-Mayan language voice "Since the world is coming to the end in 2012 why don't we just  put the calendar on this big long rock, you see it has a end way over there”

No they were too intelligent for that!  A big long rock wouldn't work, it has a end. So the logical thing was --  "lets go for round folks".  We know the original Pro-Mayan language of 5,000 years ago during the Mesoamerican - pre Columbian Civilization no longer exists even though there are 30 some versions and transpositions today and about 6,000 people use those versions. Well there's the Mayanists or Notro Archaeologists that excavate ancient ruins and publish papers.  But I don't think they speak the original  language either.  You know, unfortunately that Civilization mysteriously disappeared in total and left nothing but their old cities and that round rock. That includes their original language.  So now who is the original Mayan that survived and leaked the old language code to the doomsday dude?

Wasn't that a convenient stroke of good luck?  It enabled him to be able to interpret the calendar and say, "Look people, it says the end here is December 21, 2012".   Or,  maybe I was absent the day that Phoenix Online University offered the original Pro-Mayan language 101 course.

But if you look close at the image borrowed from the internst of  El Castillo there are 365 steps to the top. And they didn't leave out step number 355 ( December 21)  That's a cllue as well !

Oh, that Hopi Indian Rock -- if you look close there is no date assigned!  Doom-sayers take liberties to tell us it's December 21 where the line ends at that big natural crevice. Nowhere on that rock does it say December 21!  In reality an elder carved a "plan of life" and it means in essence "don't mess with mother earth, thats where our food comes from folks."

Of course he didn't know about the 4.5 man-made earthquake Christmas Eve north of Youngstown, Ohio. That's where that hydrofrac outfit pumped waste water at super high pressure 9,000 feet into the ground.

But that elder was very wise too -- that's the kinda stuff he meant. Well some Government guy must have jumped on a plane and flew out to look at that elder's carving. He came back and said no more drilling,  you already caused eight small quakes within two miles of your well in the last eight months. Some one should have looked at the Hopi Rock a long time ago!

That elder meant the streams, rivers and oceans, too. They didn't have plastic back then, it wasn't introduced into our society until 1862 at the Great  International Exhibition in London by Alexander Parks.  But since then, throw-away plastic has caused the devastating Pacific Garbage Patch. Twice the size of Texas now and growing daily. I wrote a short piece on that sometime ago if interested.

But you can't take a picture of the actual Hopi rock -- its protected by the Hopi from photography, so doom-sayers make their own graphics and tell us what it says.  But I found a rare actual photo.  I forget the photographers name but it was taken, I believe, in 1960.  I'm glad he cheated...

Oh, then there's Nostradamus -- I've been studying his quatrains for the past year and find no reference to December 21st.  He was born December 14 or the 21st in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France in 1503.  He wasn't even sure when he was born? Wow!

So much for Nostsradamus.  He wasn't sure of a past  event, let alone predicting a future one.  On Hitler - Scholars say he misspelled as "Histler".  Could be, I have that problem, too.

I have been struck by the realization for a long time that one can take any actual fact on any subject and twist, turn and spin truth into fiction. We see politicians do it daily of course, so nothing new.  But every so often since the beginning a dooms-sayer gets some attention and media folks jump on that hype wagon and ride like there will be no tomorrow!  Whoops, Freudian slip there.

I should write a book to set every ones mind at ease but it probably wouldn't be  complete (due to massive editing time) and published before December 20 and that may be a tad too late to make any money.  Just getting this out the door took a week longer than I planned!

But I have absolutely no doubt after a year of research -- its safe to buy after Christmas Sale items for gifts to give next Christmas.

Some interesting facts and information published by NASA here on January 1st.

Wonder if we'll see equal time this year on the NASA story by News, History and Discovery Channels and particularly the doom hype people?

If you're inclined to believe - the kicker may be the Bible!  Don't get me wrong, I'm not pushing religion here, that's your choice. But in several passages in different formats "no man shall know the end".  So who gave the Maya, Nostradamus,  the Hopi or the doomsday guys advance info?  Just sayin...  And when I wake up December 22nd, turn on the 24-7 news and she says, "I hope you all stayed up to watch the END last night. It was spectacular!"  Don't you just hate to miss important events!  But I'll get to see it again the next hour.  24-7 news replay that stuff over and over and over again.  And then we'll see a 2-hour special in the summer of 2013 when the ratings are low.

By the way -- How many doomsday events predicted in all  the centuries have come true?  Think about it - we may have a test later...

PS: You're all invited to our home Christmas Eve 2012 for Nancy's awesome cooking and we'll open a few presents too. RSVP and remember December 24, 2012, 6:30 PM EST, sharp!

I'll conclude with the erie voice, "Who knows -- the Shadow knows!"  But that's an old radio program that you may be too young to know. The Jack Armstrong, Terry and the Pirates, and Flash Gordon, and the Lone Ranger era of the 40's. I was 10 then and believed it all. I'll be 79 this week and one thing I've learned, don't place credence when some guy comes along to predict the (end)  I've seen a lot of those and, well, fortunately survived every single one.

Anyway Happy New year everyone and that includes all the way to New Years Eve 2013.

Thanks for reading my first attempt at humor here on OS.

Ha! A delightful read Jim, well done. Not sure if we can make it to Ohio in December, but you never know. I'm thinking that Nancy's cooking is worth the trip though.
Thanks Barry , that was kind and thanks for the heads up on identifying the Photographer of El Castillo photo as Chris Lattner. I'm sure he appreciates the Credit as do I the for your information. I never thought of looking at the EXIF data. I'm not sure if I can edit that in being a relative newbee at this. And Barry - you're always welcome to our home- anytime my friend.
