I have my fork and I know how to use it!

I use my fork to pick horse stalls on a regular basis. We all need to take a fork to the state of political affairs and reduce the accumulation of manure. I'll also be picking on the right wing authoritarians and picking at issues that have been ignored for far too long. Most importantly, our country is in the process of picking its next set of leaders.

Bullying as Foreign Policy

Rate: 2 Flag

Our Codpiece in Chief

C'mon, George. Pick one side of an issue and stay there. Remember back in July of 2003:

President Bush today came close to taunting Iraqis who were attacking American-led forces in Iraq and said the assaults would not cause the United States to leave prematurely.
''There are some who feel like -- that the conditions are such that they can attack us there,'' Mr. Bush said. ''My answer is, bring them on. We've got the force necessary to deal with the security situation.''

Or, more recently, we have this:

President Bush thanked Mr Brown for his "strong statement" and added:"The Iranians must understand that when we come together and speak with one voice we are serious." He said pressure was necessary to "solve this problem diplomatically" -but added: "Iranians must understand, however, that all options are on the table."

So, how in the world does that get us to this little gem coming out of his mouth this morning, in discussing the conflict between Russia and Georgia:

"Bullying and intimidation are not acceptable ways to conduct foreign policy in the 21st century," Bush said.
The poster boy for bullying and intimidation as foreign policy is now finding his own faults in another leader. I really don't think there could be anyone on earth with a bigger self-awareness deficit.

Jim, your picture of W. in his flyboy digs brings back the issue of a president wearing formal military attire.

It was remarked on at the time - when he landed on the carrier in this garb, and then appeared on deck (after refreshments in the captain's quarters) for his "Mission Accomplished" speech - that there was a disturbing precedent being set here.

And it wasn't just about wearing a pith helmet, a field jacket with gold epaulets, knickers and a riding crop; he showed up in flight combat gear.

Perhaps, before he heads home to the ranch, he can arrange a meeting with Putin.

W. can sit down, dresssed as General Sherman; and Putin can meet him dressed as Peter the Great.

They could both try and work out the meaning of imperial excess once and for all.
dirigo, I think the perfect date for that meeting you suggest should be October 31.
'They could both try and work out the meaning of imperial excess once and for all. " Absolutely.

But you are talking about a meeting between Puti-pute and 'lil George for all the intellect GWB will bring to the party. 'lil George peering into PP's "lookie holes" of Puti's soul and seeing a reflection of himself and Putin-- Beelzabub and Satan.
Leaving aside any jolly times that may remain between President Bush and Prime Minister Putin, the American people must consider whether or how to put the imperial presidency back in a box - a lockbox, as Al Gore might say.

Al?
Yes, it is a serious matter -- we don't need a King John McCain. Things need to return to some level of normalcy.

We watched "The Hoax" the other night, and saw how easily Nixon was brought to his knees by journalistic revelation. What he did was very minor by comparision. All is known, but nothing will be done. In that all three branches are complicit, and that is a big hurdle for the American People.
Sorry, I meant to write "psuedo-journalism", that was portrayed as being perceived to be the truth. We now have truth but without the help of investigative journalism, all four fail-safes o government are lost to us. Yet another estate rules -- Corporate America.
Unfortunately, Gore and Kerry are still regarded by the neocons as Pistol and Bardolf, the blokes who were cannon fodder in Henry V.

Both wusses, and one of them French.

Obama was not at Agincourt though, so they can try to make him disappear, which seems to be part of what's going on.

"He's not one of us."

"He's not qualified to stand on the poop deck."
Dirigo sez: "the American people must consider whether or how to put the imperial presidency back in a box...:

Ain't but one way to lock up that imperialism - Impeachment, with a capital Peach.

Ms. Pelosi brings disgrace upon herself and the Democratic congressional delegation. by declaring impeachment to be "off the table."
