Our generation invented failing. Once, an old man asked me why kids were shooting each other at school. "Is it because they're failing?" he asked.

"No!" came my immediate answer. "It's not because they're failing! We invented failing, mister! We failed like none before us! We changed majors as many times as the matriculation people would allow and then some! We tried things we knew we'd fail at just for the thrill of failing! An F on our report cards? That was for fucking around and failing. It was an art form. And yet, we never shot anyone. We were too busy failing."

Blog audience? Went to a pretty good restaurant this weekend and was more or less snubbed by the bourgeois. Later, I found my
Toulouse Lautrec slides (color slide program of the Great Masters) and felt better just owning them.

Ah, but itsn't bringing up slides of the great masters being guilty of the same elitism as the people who snubbed you? What's worse, anyone can buy slides or take classes. There is a vast difference between being a great master and reading about them in a book. One takes years of committment, even given the natural talent of a Dali or Carvgio, the other costs about $25 at Barnes and Noble. Less if they have a sale on coffee table books. I know because I have books like that, and will never be able to paint like Salvador Dali.

Almost everything in life is a popularity contest. Which is why I went into computers. Of course now I'm failing at that since Ive been unemployed for months.

Answering the question for you!!!

No you cannot build your blog audience here on Open Salon Blogs! Nor is it easy to use the software!!! There are no tools for that! You are not allowed buttons or Linkz or any of the other tools other blogs have to build audience and community. The software is so archaic.

Because Open Salon is a JOKE. They say they are going to add features and fix features but they never will!
