Health Panel- Fucktards Without Peer

Rate: 2 Flag

A health panel is now telling women not to get mamograms until 50.

Considering how many women get breast cancer in their 40s that sounds like really stupid advice.

What are they going to suggest next, take up smoking and cover their walls with lead paint?

Good way to help reduce the population. (Agree that it's an idiotic suggestion)
I sense the dead hand of the insurance agency has decided women are way too expensive to insure at all.
Fucktards, indeed.
I thought it was a government task force or panel that made these recommendations, and that the American Cancer Society was opposed to the new recommendations. I hope you doublecheck your facts.
It really isn't a bad suggestion, it is based on solid facts and is exactly the kind of decisions we have to make to put our health care system back on track to affordability.

Same suggestion can be made for colonoscopies, the data shows that more people have problems than those that are saved.

Screening is such an easy thing to get behind that it seems crazy to make a suggestion like this but the fact show more people are hurt than saved.

Added to that we are wasting billions of dollars a year that could be getting the millions of uninsured 50-60 year olds checked out where the cancer rates are higher therefore saving MORE women.

My feeling is that the reason people can't understand fact based suggestions to policy is either ideological blindness or poor training in the math that makes these discoveries possible.
Mammograms result in 60% false-positives in women under 50. The cancers that are detected are either slow-growing and will never kill the patient or incredibly invasive and will kill the patient with or without treatment. They also add to the lifetime radiation danger (radiation is cumulative, including dental x-rays, chest x-rays, etc.) that increases the overall risk of developing cancer.

IOW, they do more harm than good.
Youre right. It was hard to tell from the video who suggested 50.
