Like other news outlets USA Today ran a story chiding the Occupy Wall Street movement about turning "violent" after bank windows were broken and a Whole Foods was spray painted on the West Coast. Apparently, corporations are not just individuals, their money for political issue ads, free speech, now graffiti or the destruction of profit is violence.
What I haven't seen is the media chiding the men in white for macing young women in the face, beating protesters with clubs in New York, Oakland, Portland, Miami, Austin, Berkely, throwing percussion grenades at their faces.
Violence is being redefined as we speak, as destruction of property. A nonviolent revolution promises only one thing, those in revolt will not hurt people, individuals, or any living beings. Not that Whoreporate America's fucking outlets won't get spray paint or broken windows.
Because it isn't a protest if no one is inconvenienced. If they herd people into little out of the way parks that no one has to pass on the way to the stock exchange. Our numbers are growing and with that comes a percent of anarchists, tired of waiting for the world to change, since the only thing the powers that be seem to notice is money or power, or the loss of same.
If you are going to redefine violence why not start with Bayer selling AIDs tainted blood in Europe? Insurance companies kicking fatally ill people off health insurance with HMO death panels? Oil companies poisoning the ecosystem with spills that continue for months unabated, or unmolested by politicians, who patiently wait for their masters to get their act together, not unlike Japanese officials standing by, risking the lives of 60 million Japanese, while Nuclear plant officials try to recover their assets, rather than cut their losses?
Violence is the profit made by collateral damage, killing women and children while destroying buildings, then rebuilding them for profit under the guise of phony terrorism. Or hiring 150,000 mercenaries at six figure incomes, while declaring wars ending?
Occupy Wall Street was violent almost from the start, but the violence has never come from protesters who haven't so much as raised a hand to another, even while being beaten and maced. The violence has come from the men in white, which raises a bigger question of why America's police departments are promoting violent sociopaths in the first place? Because those are the only ones politicians trust to protect their drug smuggling and child prostitution rings?
Violence is the stun gun and cattle prod Dick Cheney uses on women. The satanic sex torture of Abu Ghraib prisoners. Its the toxins they put in the air, poisons they dump in the sea.
Breaking a bank window isn't violence.
It's fucking justice.
