I think the vision you present of the US is one shared by most Americans. I just figured out the other day why we don't see this vision reflected anywhere in the mainstream media. Someone sent me a fascinating voltairenet article about a NATO plan to pull the plug on Syrian TV (on June 15th apparently) and substitute their own psyops programming straight from Washington DC. Apparently this isn't the first time they have done this. They did it last year in Libya to keep the leaders of the Jamahiriya from communicating with their people - and in Venezuela during 2002, in an effort to convince the Venezuelan people that there had been a successful coup against Hugo Chavez. I reckon they have been doing it to the American public since the mid-70s. I spent a year and half in Europe in 1973, and when I returned to the US all I saw on TV was this psyops bs.

All this draconian repression Obama is enacting finally makes sense. The corporate elite knows their grip on power is extremely tenuous - the American people are only a whisper away from taking the streets.

I'm starting to hope Romney gets elected. I think he will rule almost identically to Obama only people will actually be outraged by it finally rather than make excuses. Then again, protesting didnt accomplish much when Bush was president. I think it's over for us. We can't win. They have the money and control the information. They have the dirt on the media moguls and anchors. A corporate/government-run fascist state is just about here and nothing will stop it.
