Will he?

Rate: 10 Flag

Will Bruce Springsteen mention Pat Tillman, the Arizona Cardinals star whose death by friendly fire in Afghanistan was covered up by the Bush administration? He was pitch perfect with Pete Seeger at the "We Are One" concert two weeks ago; I'm not sure he'll interrupt the party for this, but I hope so.

In other news, I made PF's chili, and it's great. I got worried and added  extra tomatoes and...well, I probably overdid that. It's a little soupier than I meant it to be. How did I fail to trust you, Lauren??

My understanding is that they have held Bruce's feet to the fire on his 12 minute time limit. I understand that they rehearsed his set to within an inch of its life. So if he does say something, it will be very quick.

Enjoy your chili. I'm pretending that the the NY Giants made the Super Bowl and I'm serving penne with "meat sauce" (as bolognese was called in my New Jersey family.)
Wow. It'd be pretty cool if he did.

Watch out for chili stains on your 'Retha hat!
I am not watching the superbowl as I don't care to watch unless the Pats are playing. But I HAVE instructed my husband to call me when The Boss is on. I've seen him twice, nearly 25 years apart and he rocked both times.... amazing but true. Could not tell the difference. Put on his 2 hour plus stage show at 50 plus the same as he did as a young man. And my stamina, I am happy to say, was also the same!
After the coin toss with the General and the oblique but obvious homage to the servicemen and women, I hope the Boss gets some scoring point across...yes, yes, I understand that thousands and thousands of "serving Americans" are watching this game...all the more reason!
I'd eat your new hat if I could! It looks delicious on you!

Pat Tillman's family deserves some sort on mention from Bruce or someone for the ultimate sacrifice. I'll be very disappointed otherwise.

On a happier note, I'm enjoying OldStyleCoyote's pulled pork recipe right now. Um Um Good.
Wondering if you sent Dick Armey any of your chili to sample. Maybe laced with a stool softener to get some of the crap out of his head, though personally I think he's a lost cause.
Also wondering where you find the time to cook.
He may make some sort of unspoken gesture like having his jersey on or something...If he does, you can bet it wasn't planned. He should. What are they going to do, fire him? Bush is gone, so no Gitmo.
Go Boss.
Don't we just wish? Perhaps Dick Armey will be there ready to defend that friendly fire, too. Enjoy your chili. Arrowroot will thicken it.
Joan, through in a finelly ground cornmeal to soak up the soupiness (just trust your favorite catamite here)
I doubt it. After Janet Jackson god knows what they made him sign. The last thing they want is controversy. Maybe he'll show his breast though.
Since it was "Friendly Fire" I believe it is a political quaqmire. I would have liked to see his number worn by both teams, and if anyone can "Shout it Out" Bruce will, maybe in song. Good comment.
The soupier the PF's chili the wetter and better.
The chili dinner is formal wear? Or. are PJ's fine?
Is this the perennial Army Navy's ping pong game?
Pete Seeger at 89 would have made good chili too.
Leadbelly, Dylan, Springston, Guthrie, and soupy?
Oh, hot chile from Joan Walsh's kitchen ....Will he?
Will he? O Maybe he will do a polka with Daschele?
Or, present a IRS with the stuffed Freud doll babe?
I hope no one pulls his farm overall suspenders off.
I guess now wez' free to shop for chili @ Wall-Mart.
Is Pete Seeger and Joan W. on the banjo? Riff. Jazz.
Oh, why the Treasury of America bought CEO jets?
I'll need to catch up on what's happening? Chili con!
We go in our own holy PJ's to Joan's and chili gorge.
Can we bring famished Friends along for ice cream?
No he didn't (at least not that I saw).

But, it's okay.

Whoo oooh Springsteen!!
All the original members. Nils Lofgren never gets to show his chops in their live shows. The Boss is the show. It was wonderful. I guess they wanted to keep the vibes flowing positive. Maybe it's best to address these serious issues at more serious times.
I think Nils always gets to show his stuff in live shows, Greg, I am a huge Nils fan.

I love him, but I was underwhelmed. But clearly I'm the wrong demographic for this entire show! They're programming for Dick Armey and his sons, not for me.
Well, it was entertainment.

My husband, a musician, was unfortunately underwhelmed, but due to Bruce's voice (arrgh I hate to say that). If he wouldn't have been scooting around on the floor and running back and forth he would have had more wind.
Yeah, I've seen him twice a tour every last few tours, and I've never seen him so winded...
Regardless, we'll be buying tickets for his Atlanta concert tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m..... It's more about nostalgia -- we'll take our adult children -- and less about him being what he once was. Whether we like it or not, we're not as young as we used to be.

You should have been at the Gordon Lightfoot concert we saw in New York 2 years ago. Oy.
I liked the hairy guy in the speedo in that careerbuilder.com ad.

And did you see the 100 yard return?
Bruce is the $100,000,000.00 punk on the corner. He spent 2004 campaigning for a loser like Kerry and now 4 years later, he is on top of the world, Oscar, #1 Album on the charts, plays the coronation of King O and plays the Super bowl all in the same month. He is the king of the “Culture of Complaint” and you libs have made him rich by sucking up his elixir of disdain, when really all he has done is to put a voice to your pain for the purpose of cashing in........How truly capitalist of him. Go Bruce....? I think???

Stephan Metcalf said it best in this 2005 aricle on the site called "Slate" called "Why I Still Love Bruce"
