Ain't too proud to beg

Rate: 22 Flag

I've been ducking comments for a while about how it's time for me to update my hat -- a spring chapeau, perhaps? I already missed the window for an Easter Bonnet -- well, except for Greek Orthodox Easter. Stellaa?

The fact is, if Lonnie hadn't matched my head with Aretha's hat, I'd never have had my Obama-fabulous winter look.

It's true: I don't know how to use Photoshop or any other tool that would let me put a fetching hat on my head. I should, but I don't.

So: I ain't too proud to beg: If you can put me in a flattering hat, I'll wear it. I'll try to figure out how to stage a contest so all ya'll can vote on my Spring look.

I have to admit: I love Aretha's hat, and I might bring it out next winter. But my head is getting really hot lately!

How about we all bring a hat Thursday night for you to try?
Then we can take an actual photo and if ya like it you can make it your new hat avatar? I know, it sounds corny, but since you asked?
Then no messing with photo shop and you can take your pick, real time, in the flesh.
I'll do it right now, but it would be better if I had a better photo to start with...
since my last name is stetson, i have an interest in hats. look forward to the selection.
You do need a new hat, I was thinking an American revolutionary hat, you know for the tea parties and all.

Sorry no hats for Greek Easter.
I liked Jon Stewart's comment about Aretha stealing the bow from a Lexus.
Cathy, maybe I'll bring a few hats on Thursday, that could be a fun activity. But I basically just have various baseball caps; we might need more diversity...
I could make Aretha's het into a spring or summer hue, for ya, Joan, but that's about it.

I'm honored you've worn my styling so long as it is. Good luck with your new look - it's sure to be a winner!
Look at this great post by the dazzling Z Bitch:

http://open.salon.com/blog/z_bitch/2009/04/13/easter_crazy_hat_parade

I think the hat in Picture #6 is so YOU...it screams Audrey Hepburn with the classic white/black broad stripes look. Z bitch prefers the hat in Picture #8. Either way, they would look fahbulous on you.
Alrighty Joan - you asked for it: Playing dress-up with real people is fun!
Lonnie, of course I should have credited you as the artist behind the existing hat! marytkelly, I loved Z Bitch's Easter photo essay, there are a number of hats there, I would just have to get one of them on my head.
A pirate sort of tricorn with a feminine twist?
Dang--ablonde beat me to it. Pirates are so in, Joan. You really ought to consider it.
Well, I'll see what I can come up with for a little hat fancy for thursday nite...will bring a few for the fun of it.
I can't do photoshop either, but I am so looking forward to a new
chapeau for you.
Why all this talk of new hats? Rings! Get rings! Or might I suggest moons and satellites?
Saturn, I can't believe you just asked Joan to moon us.

Joan, if you want people to photoshop you up, can you please take off your hat so that we don't have to make pics of you wearing two hats at once?
Joan, since you're an SF gal, I think the famous SF Skyline hat from Beach Blanket Babylon would suit you, but I don't think it will fit in that teensy little photo space....

(For those who haven't seen it: http://www.beachblanketbabylon.com/showpics/hat_01.shtml
You should show your pic without it so people here can experiment with Photoshop. A pope hat, cowboy hat, etc.
ugh... Beach Blanket Babylon??? I think a rakish tam for our brisk spring winds would be fetching.
A simple pill box hat since it does work for shoulder length hair.

Or better yet, try on several and we can vote on the best one!!
I'm in!
The pixie Muses have dozens of hats that might work. But I'll need a copy of your avatar sans Aretha to get the renders to work.
Or should we search The Google for interesting Joan pictures?
Okay, I gave you some new hats:

Don't forget to bring the card I sent you with the fabulous hat. Maybe someone can photoshop that for you!
You're too young to be contemplating the "red hat " society. I'd like to challenge you to start wearing your hats on your TV appearances. Sort of like a Hedda Hopper of the 21st century....with an edge.

Then when your BFHF* Dick Armey appears with you, you can tell him to eat your hat, which is so much more urbane than "eat my shorts".

*Best F%&k Head Forever
Well if you're going to give up your hat, will you please bring it Thursday?? I've been looking for one just like it to wear to the event and God, if I could just put yours on, just for a second...
humm. don't do that little emoticon heart thingy. It wipes out your comment and makes you look like a OS newb

Anyways. I adore hats. I have 8 on my desk right now. My favorite one is my blue fedora with a feather. I need to find good spring/summer hats though. I have mostly winter ones (heavy felt, dark colors etc).

I am trying to decide between these two:

http://www.thefedorastore.com/Grade-3-Panama-Optimo-Crown-Fedora-Hat-p/p133.htm
Pimp Fedora all the way Joan. ;)
I just love the fact that you have it in you to ask. I was ALWAYS impressed that you had the courage to wear the Aretha hat to begin with. I can't wait to see the results.
I use photoshop a lot...Just put up a nice hatless picture, a little larger please?...and I will fix you up!
Aw, c'mon, Joan, show us yours!

(They do have some accessories--not sure about hats.)
You'll never get me off the Carmen Miranda fruit bowl hat with coconut earrings. It just screams of spring!
Carment Miranda. I never thought of that.
Ain't too proud to repost this offering, since you asked.
Another Photoshop-ful grrl here, am also in. As others have mentioned, would be easier to work with a sans-hat photo, but if you don't get a hat you like from tonight's anniversary meet-up, can work with your current photo.
I want very much to be able to help you here as I'm trying to make up for how I came across in an earlier post. It just seems the neighborly thing to do, before I go off on another judgmental tangent and/or rant or topic that could explode in my face.

But dammit, I don't know anything about hats.

I hope you pick a nice hat, maybe a Giants cap for summer and a took (I think that's how Canadian's spell it) for winter.

OK, I'm out of my element and making myself nauseous.
And I made you a quite timely hat - just to piss off the GMan.

I think you'll like it!

I'm picturing one of those shaker boards with the pegs in it, and a bunch of hats for you, Joan, since you really need more than one in each season.

If only we had a game designer among us, someone who could make those hats move around with the mouse, a virtual version of those clingy, plastic game boards from the past. A bit like paper dolls.
I think you need a garland of flowers--how about some dogwoods like the ones you see in Muir State Park? Or some lupin and California Poppy?
I can feel you..my signature hat fell off my head and got run over on fredrickburg. i need a new one too so if u're ever in my area look me up..darrell @ 210-857-1982
