Stop this insane "war on drugs", stop paying billions on a failed idea. Stop the terrorist campaign against "medical marijuana" Act like a sensible government of a free people, not a tyrannous government of the controlled.

Scary, but funnier than heck, only in America.

Okay, so the cops in Texas ain't so smart, but the thing about how America government has gone "reefer madness" over a harmless plant is the really scary part. Really, if you've ever seen the movie Reefer Madness, it's the complete opposite of how reality is. The government has gone crazy insane in their obsession with drugs. All the "harms associated" with drugs come from the draconian laws they inflict on the population. Every death associated with cannabis, was from a gun, either a cops gun, or someone that felt "ripped off" because the price relates to the laws, and the laws are what fuel the associated crimes. We learned this lesson back in the 1930's, well, those of us that paid attention. There's where the criminal negligence of our government really shines. Nixon started this war on drugs, not congress. Anybody that's familiar with the constitution knows that the congress has the power to declare war, not the crooked president. And this is a war, it's funded just like a war, it's fought like a war, SWAT is completely militarized. But it's a war on the American people, by our own government. It's the government that causes the greater harm in trying to enforce their policy. Their policy founded on voo doo science and lies, which they use public funds to print and publish and spread their misinformation, is a bad policy, they know this but refuse to modify it to fit the actual situation. Drug addiction is not a criminal issue, it's the laws that make it such. Drug addictionis a medical issue, but it's the laws that make medicat treatment difficult.

But, anyhow, just how funny is it that these cops pulled out 300 MINT plants, hauled them to the station for testing, and made themselves the poster child for drug hysteria? It's a sick twisted country we live in.

Institutional insanity of the first order. I fought part of our "war" on drugs in South/Central America in the 80's. What a fucking waste. The poor always pay and I am ashamed. A guilt that never quits.
Rated.
Just read today something about Portugal having legalized (or, I guess, more accurately, un-illegalizing) EVERYthing. Crack, meth, whatever. Gotta go back and read up on details - headline implied everything was okay. Or at least no worse than it was before...only now the police and courts can concentrate on other things...
More so, Jane, a person gets to working age and has never smoked pot, or NOT EVEN KNOWN ANYONE WHO DID... I can't imagine it...
Or lived in the south and never had a mint julip?!
Hey Scylla, you guy's did a job, there's no shame in following orders, I feel so bad for our military hero's having to compromise their morals, for doing so, but it's not their acts that cause the harm, it's their leaders. Thank you for that.
I for one, do know the actual beginings of the crack epidemic in LA. The CIA must be so proud.
When a government doesn't know a medical condition from a criminal act, and makes a medical condition a criminal act, is when that government has rendered itself dysfunctional, and dangerous.
Thanks Myriad.
Jane:
What has me scratching my head is that my 13 year old knows what pot looks like. NO, not that way, learned it in school. You know the same place they buy it. Tax free. After 30 plus years of drug war, it seems it's having the opposite effect of the intended one. What's this country going to be like in 30 more years?
Myraid:
Or seen a magazine cover? Makes me wonder what other areas of law enforcement they're not too clear on.
But that's a whole new rant.
